KIA Motors were establishing their administrative headquarters at Kingston uponThames, Surrey. The office relocation involved the design and construction of a fully glazed double height reception and showroom, fitted to an existing building. To manage the solar heat gain potential of the Southwest facing elevation and the desire to illuminate the space with product enhancing natural daylight the architects chose SolaVeil® as their daylighting solution of choice. The SolaVeil® solution was supplied fully configured as a sealed IG unit for rapid installation. The result is a naturally daylit interior with the minimum of solar heat gain and no requirement for additional glare control measures. The office environment and showroom benefit from cool diffused daylight, creating a highly energy efficient solution – significantly reducing energy costs and carbon emissions.
