3450 Winton Place Rochester, NY 14623 The photo to the left shows Joe Jennings and Angi Uezu in front of the original Isshin ryu dojo in Okinawa in 1972. Joe Jennings trained in Okinawa with Tatsuo Shimabuku, the founder of Isshin ryu karate and his son- in-law Angi Uezu. When he returned to the US, Joe Jennings opened his dojo in Rochester New York. Sensei Matt Dorsey started training with him in 1977 as an RIT student. Sensei Matt opened his dojo in 1980 in Sub- urban Plaza in Henrietta. This was the start Of the Martial Arts America schools which have now grown to 3 locations with over 500 students. There were over 30 classes offered on various aspects and styles of martial arts including fitness, self defense, kicking, flexibility, energy, sparring skills, instructor training and much more. Our MAA instructors are constantly upgrading their skills and knowledge to give our students the best martial arts training and experience possible. Sifu Mark Cardona and Sensei Matt Dorsey were also featured instructors at the camp. August Activities Sat. Aug 19 6—9 pm FREE Kids Activity Night We’re presenting this FREE event in appreciation of our dojo families (to the first 30 kids that register. Olympic Fun & Games Ages 6—12 yrs. old. Sun. Aug. 20 11 am—? MAA Seabreeze Day Join your dojo classmates and other MAA families for a fun day at our local water and ride park. Get your discounted tickets at the front counter. We Offer Daytime Karate Classes During The Summer Open to students ages 6—12 and all belt levels. Students can attend any dojo. Penfield dojo Tue. 11am Brighton dojo Wed.11am Webster dojo Thu 11 am The Brighton dojo is running summer day camp ior the first 2 weeks in August and it runs an 11 am class every day M - F that is also open to all stu- dents ages 6—12.
