    FROM THE

    WELCOME

I welcome all of our supporters, sponsors, players and officials to this Round 9 game of the 2017 PS4 NPL NSW Men’s competition. I also extend that welcome to our visitors from Blacktown, perennial frontrunners in our competition.

We are fast approaching the halfway stage of the 2017 season and what a start it has been for our first grade team in particular. Last Saturday night saw us travel to Bonnyrigg and to come away with a 5-0 win was a tremendous result. Games against Bonnyrigg are never easy and despite their position on the ladder we knew it was going to be a tough game. That said, it was another great team effort that featured goals again from two of our in-form strikers, Jordan Figon and Alec Urosevski. The win has us in joint first position on the ladder coming into this round together with our opponents Blacktown.

Blacktown have quality across the field and the fact that they are joint first says a lot about Mark Crittenden’s team. They have plenty of strike power across the field and we are expecting an almighty battle.

Our under 20s battled away and secured a 2-2 draw following on from their previous week’s win against Manly.

I would like to acknowledge our under 18s who last weekend defeated Bonnyrigg 5-0 to move into third position on the ladder. Steve and Gary are doing a great job with the team and we wish them all the best.

It is a very busy period for the club. Earlier this week our team travelled to Bathurst for a FFA Cup qualifier against the Western NSW Mariners. It was a great night with the team winning 4-0 on what was a bumpy pitch against a spirited opponent. The win means we progress to the 6th round where we will take on Marconi. Match details to

follow. I want to thank all of the players, coaches, and the travelling supporters who made the long trip out to Bathurst for the game. It shows the spirit in the team and the club that we had two buses head out to Bathurst on a cold Tuesday night. I also want to thank George from Kingsford Smith Transport for supplying the coach for the night.

In our youth, I want to acknowledge our under 13s side this week for their march up the ladder following back to back weekend wins against Blacktown City and Wollongong Wolves. Well done to the team and to all of our youth sides.

This week our SAP and Youth will be in action against local rivals Sutherland. All the best to those teams.

Once again, I would like to thank all of our loyal sponsors.

Co major sponsors: Pauls Customs & Forwarding Solutions and the Home Lending Centre at Bexley.

Major partners: SX Trailers, MKD Transcorp, Ribarovski Catering Equipment, Benino Fine Foods, Marco Polo Foods, NTS Communications, Australian Mortgage Options, Bankstown Corporate Accounting, Consolidated Office Choice Kogarah, Laing & Simmons St.George, FLIP TV, Cityview Group and Raine & Horne Rockdale.

Please support our sponsors where you can, they are so important to us.

I hope to see you all at our games this Sunday and feel free to stay around at games end to watch the A-League grand final in the club house.

Regards Dennis Loether President RCS FC

    MATCH

    FIRST GRADE

First takes on second as Rockdale City Suns host Blacktown City on Sunday.Split only by goal difference at the top of the table, the competition’s remaining undefeated sides will slug it out in what is sure to be a blockbuster clash.

Paul Reid’s Rockdale has gone from strength to strength this year but it has been their ability to win or fight back for a draw when they have been outplayed by their opposition which has them at top of the competition after eight rounds.

What can’t be discounted is the incredible form shown by the Suns attacking players Alec Urosevski, Jordan Figon and Harris Gaitatzis. With Toufic Alamaddine also finding form and Blake Ricciuto returning to health, Rockdale have all the potential to make a mark in 2017.

There were question marks around how Blacktown City would respond this year after the departure of its biggest contributors in last season’s grand final winning year.

Undefeated after eight rounds, Mark Crittenden has once again demonstrated why he is one of the best coaches the PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s has ever seen.

Blacktown hasn’t lost any of the winning edge it has been known for and they have shown over the years it is the biggest games where they show their full potential.

This game has potential to be one of the match-ups of the season and will surely be a precursor for this year’s finals series.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC 0 - Rockdale City Suns FC 5 at Bonnyrigg Sports club

Bonnyrigg White Eagles’ woes continued as Rockdale City Suns extended their unbeaten run romping home to a 5-0 victory on Saturday night at Bonnyrigg Sports Club.

A double to Alec Urosevski and Jordan Figon, as well as a goal to Toufic Alameddine helped the visitors to the comprehensive win.

Urosevki opened the scoring in the eight minute but it wasn’t until the start of the second half when Rockdale really took control when they scored three goals in five minutes. Figon capped off the result with a 91st minute goal to make it 5-0.

For the White Eagles it would be their seventh loss in eight games as the horror season continues for Brian Brown’s side.

Blacktown City FC 3 - Manly United FC 2 at Lily’s Football Stadium

Blacktown City survived a late scare against Manly United to edge fellow championship hopefuls Manly United FC 3-2 at Lilys Football Centre on Saturday evening.

It was one way traffic after 80 minutes for the hosts with a brace from star Danny Choi and a goal from substitute James Andrew sending Mark Crittenden’s side heading toward a comfortable victory.

But late consolation goals from Nikola Taneski and Travis Oughtred sliced Blacktown City’s advantage and added a sheen of respectability to the score line the visitors had scarcely merited prior to their fightback.

Although the visitors were handicapped by the unfortunate late withdrawal of Matthew Fletcher, who was replaced by Taneski in the matches opening moments after a nasty collision with the fence, Warren Grieve’s side could only manage a handful of shots en route to their consecutive third match without a win.

The win means Blacktown City remain undefeated this season after eight rounds and now sit in second position on the ladder behind only on goal difference with leaders Rockdale City Suns.

    UNDER 20s

Blacktown City will arrive at Illinden Sports Centre full of confidence after a late 1-0 victory over Manly in round eight moved John Carnevale’s side into second position. Blacktown are beginning to hit their stride after an inconsistent start to the season and will fancy their chances at maintaining the heat on Sutherland with three points over a struggling Rockdale side.

Rockdale have steadied the ship impressively following their 7-0 hammering at the hands of Sutherland in round six after collecting four points from fixtures against Manly and Bonnyrigg but will need to step up their efforts again to combat a quietly impressive Blacktown side.
