    Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS (hereby abbreviated to EXVS) is the port of its

    arcade version, with various new units and modes added.

    For those who are not familiar with the Gundam VS series, it is a series of2-on-2 battle games where you aim to take down the other team by depletingtheir battle gauge. Being a team battle game, teamwork is one of the mostimportant aspect of the game.

    Unlike previous VS games, EXVS is the first Gundam VS title to feature seriesthat are not animated, such as Crossbone, Astray and CCA's novel version.This guide will focus on the gameplay basics, advanced techniques, as well as

    3b. Basic Gameplay [003b]------------------------------------------

    The premise of the VS series is to bring your opponents' battle gauge from6000 down to zero. Similiarly, if your own battle gauge is brought down tozero, you will get a Game Over. So how do one decrease the opponents'battle gauge? You do so by defeating enemies. Each unit is associated witha cost, ie. Nu Gundam has a cost of 3000GP. Once the unit is defeated, thecost of the unit will be subtracted from the battle gauge. More will be coveredin the Battle Gauge System section.

    You are free to take whatever means to defeat the enemies, whether it be usingrange attacks or melee attacks. Do note that computer opponents usually have

    lower cost than the standard for the unit.

    ------------------------------------------3c. Changes from GvG NEXT [003c]------------------------------------------

    There are some significant changes from the previous game, GvG NEXT/NEXT PLUS.For people who are migrating from NEXT/NEXT PLUS, knowing the changes will bebeneficial to you.

    General System Changes----------------------

    - Random Unit Selection is finally added into the game.

    - Addition of EX Burst (Awaken) System and the Extreme Action System. (More details underneath)

    - Removal of Mobile Assists. However, some units still have attacks that will summon various units to attack/defend.

    - All units can now guard regardless whether they have a shield or not. Some units will not be able to guard in specific conditions, however.

    - Transforming is now overall faster.

    - A new stun state have been introduced. The stunned unit would be on fire. Some attacks that put units in this special stun state would be God Gundam's God Finger (Range) or Gunner ZAKU's single grenade.

    - A wallbounce effect have been introduced. This happens when units can sent flying into the limits of the map or a building. They will be in an untechable knockdown, and you COULD continue to hit them if you can catch them in time.

    - Destructible buildings have changed in EXVS. They can get instantly broken by Gerobi beams. They would also break if a downed unit falls down on it.

    Cost System Changes-------------------

    - While the cost system generally remains the same. There is now a new tier of 2500. So the tiers are now 3000, 2500, 2000 and 1000.

    Boost System Changes--------------------

    - Vertical Boost is much quicker and goes further now.

    - Vulnerability during landing. In EXVS, the unit's vulerable time during landing is determined by how much boost they have left. If you have half or more of your boost gauge left, you will have 20 frames of vulnerability. As you use more boost than that, your landing vulnerability will also increase. If you have used all of your boost, the unit will overheat and you will get 40 frames of vulnerability when you land. Note that the game runs at

    60 frames per second.

    - However, Ground BD units are NOT affected by this when they BD on the ground. The vulnerability during the "brake" will be the same across the board regardless of how much boost they used.

    - Similar to NEXT, you will receive a penalty for BD-ing backwards. Though you will only receive a speed decrease compared to the speed decrease and an increase in boost consumption in NEXT.

    - Unlike NEXT, you can now step in the same direction, though you will need to re-input the step.

    Range/Melee System Changes--------------------------

    Range:------

    - Many beam weapons have had their speed and tracking increased.

    - Gerobi beams' startup have also been significantly sped up.

    - You can no longer charge Charge Shots by holding down subweapon, etc.

    - Boomerangs now do not disappear when blocked.

    - In NEXT, weapons would track slightly even in green lock. In EXVS, they do not track at all.

    Melee:------

    - Complete removal of Air/Ground melee. All melee now work the same regardless of the terrain, like AvZ series.

    - Melee tracking increased.

    - Forward melee makes a return to essentially all the units.

    - Side melee's input have changed. In NEXT, you could input a diagonal and you would get side melee. In EXVS, you would get either forward or BD melee.

    - Battou no longer consumes boost.

    ------------------------------------------3d. Changes from the Arcade Version [003d]------------------------------------------

    For those who have played the arcade version, there are also some adjustmentsin EXVS PS3 ver that you may be interested in. This section will outline allthe changes (aside from roster/stage/boss additions) known so far.

    Character Changes-----------------

    - Some characters have had their portrait re-drawn.- Some characters have had their voices re-recorded. Of course, there are many new lines as well.

    Unit Changes------------- Some units had their unit selection pose redone.

    Sound Changes-------------- 90% of the units in game have had their various sound effects corrected. In the arcade version, many units have wrong sound effects for various weapons.- Some of the sounds (like shielding) seem to have a lower volume.

    Misc Changes------------- Many series logos were fixed. In the arcade version, a lot of the logos were actually incorrect. (I don't know how they could screw even this up, tbqh)

    ------------------------------------------

    1) Radar: This is located on the upper right corner of your screen. The white line represents the boundary of the map. Your own unit is represented by a big blue arrow. Enemies are indicated with red arrows, and your allies are represented with small blue arrows.

    2) Timer: This can be found beside the Radar. When playing against computers, you will lose if the timer runs out. When playing against human players, both teams would lose when the time runs out.

    3) Battle Gauge: This is located on the upper left corner of your screen. Each bar is composed of 6000GP, and your job is to bring the opponents' gauge down to 0 before the timer runs out. The green bar represents your own Battle Gauge, and the red bar represents your opponents'.

    4) HP Counter: This can be found near the bottom left corner of your screen.

    5) CPU Command: If you happen to have a CPU partner, the command for them would be shown above the HP Counter. The commands for CPU are Normal, Concentrate, Disperse, Assault and Evade.6) Boost Gauge: This can be found on the bottom right of your screen, to the left of your weapon gauges. This gauge shows how much boost you

    have left. While the boost guage is empty, you will not be able to move until you land. The boost gauge will recover once your unit hits the ground.

    7) EX Gauge: This can be found on bottom left of your screen, to the right of the HP Counter. This gauge shows how much EX meter you have built. You will be able to activate EX Burst after your EX gauge reaches half or more.

    8) Weapons: These are located on the right side of your screen. These gauges represents the different weapons (that use ammo) the unit has.

    9) Target Lock: The target that you are locked on to will be shown with a

    circle. When you and your ally happened to be targeting the same target, a half circle will appear outside the circle. The half circle also indicates which direction your partner is currently.

    A green lock means your target is out of your unit's effective range. You can still attack the target at green lock range, but your weapons will not track at all. A red lock means

    your target is within your unit's effective range. A yellow lock means your target is downed, and you can't attack it. When your target is within your melee range, there will be a X inside the target lock. Note that for units that have a battou state, meleeing outside the melee range will just have

    the unit battou. (That is, if the unit doesn't have its blade unsheathed already)

    Note that when your target is above you, your target becomes "Out of Camera".

    10) Warning Arrows: Whenever you are locked on by an enemy, there would be a yellow arrow appearing on the sides of the screen telling you that you have been locked on. The location of the arrow tells you where the enemy is located. When the arrow turns

    red and starts flashing, it means an attack is coming from that direction.

    Commands:---------

    - Main Weapon- Melee- Jump- Search- Special Shooting (Main+Jump)- Special Melee (Melee+Jump)- Charge Shot (Main)- Charge Shot (Melee)- EX Burst (Main+Melee+Jump)- CPU Command/Communication- Guard (Down->Up)

    Do note that some units may not have attacks associated with the command.

    Controls:---------

    By default, the control scheme is the following:

    Square: Main WeaponTriangle: MeleeX: JumpCircle: SearchL1: CPU Command/Communication

    R1: SubweaponL2: Special ShootingR2: Special MeleeL3: ---R3: EX Burst

    Actions:--------

    1) Walking: You can move your unit in any direction by using the D-Pad or the Analog Nub. Some units hover instead of walk, but they are the same thing. Walking does not consume any boost.

    2) Step: You can step by double tapping any direction, and your unit will quickly dash to the corresponding direction. You may step both on the ground and in air. However, do note that stepping in the air gives you a bigger delay after the step. You can control the length of the step by holding the direction key. Performing a step consumes a bit of your

    boost gauge, so manage your boost well. Of course, you may not stepwhen your boost gauge is empty. The delay caused by a step can be

    cancelled by a jump or a Boost Dash.

    Another important factor to stepping is that it will lose the tracking of incoming attacks. Due to that, stepping is still very useful in the game, even with BD.

    A new ability in EXVS is that you are now able to cancel out of melee type attacks by using a step. When you do so, there would be a rainbow effect. This is more commonly known as Rainbow Step.

    3) Boost Dash (BD): You can Boost Dash by double tapping the Jump button. In EXVS, the function of NEXT Dash is now also categorized as BD. You can use BD to cancel various movements your unit is making. This is known as Boost Dash Cancel (BDC). Each BDC consumes some boost, and you will not be able to BDC if your boost gauge hits 0.

    After the initial boost, you can maintain your BD by holding down the direction or the jump button. During a BD, your boost gauge will continue to be drained. Do note that some units have a different BD method while on ground and in the air. eg: God Gundam runs on the ground as its ground BD.

    Note that Ground BD units will "brake" when their BD is over.

    Another thing is that with BD, enemy attacks are still able to track you down. So don't think that you will be able to avoid everything via BD.

    4) Transform: Some units have the ability to transform. (eg. Zeta Gundam) To transform, hold the jump button and double tap a direction. You can maintain the transformation if you hold a direction or the jump button. You can ascend if you hold the jump button in MA mode again. You can descend if you press the jump button twice in MA mode. Unless otherwise stated, attacks during MA modes are the same as normal mode.

    5) Block: In EXVS, all units can now block except for a select few under certain conditions. To block, you need to input down then up quickly. The block is invincible, so you can block every single attack with it. Boost will also be consumed during the block. You can also block for a longer duration of time if you hold up after inputting the down up. Do note that during the block animation, your unit will not be able to get out of it until the block animation is over. (The duration is the same as doing a regular block and not the prolonged block)

    6) Flip: After being downed by the opponent, you may input a direction and have

    your unit flip to recover in that direction. If you don't press any buttons, your unit will stand up eventually.

    7) Flip Recover: When your unit is hit and sent flying, you may flip recover by pressing any of the attack buttons or the jump button. This can be done as long as you are not downed. Do note that flip recovering will let your unit regain some boost.

    8) Battou: Battou means unsheathing (a blade). In EXVS's case, it is when your unit pulls out their melee weapons. This can only be done pressing

    the melee button while your unit is completely outside of its melee range. If not, your unit will immediately perform a melee attack on the target.

    Note that not all units can battou, units such as V2 have no such animation.

    9) Neutral Melee: This melee attack is performed by simplying pressing the melee button with no direction input.

    10) Side Melee: This melee attack is performed by simply pressing the melee button with left or right inputted at the same time.

    11) Forward Melee: This melee attack is performed by simply pressing the melee button with up inputted at the same time.

    12) Back Melee: This melee is performed by simply pressing the melee button with down inputted at the same time.

    13) BD Melee: This melee attack is performed by simply pressing the melee button and the direction up during BD.

    14) Charge Shot (CS): Done by holding the corresponding button (a or b) until the weapon bar flashes MAX, then releasing it. Note that

    not all units have a CS. Main weapon Charge Shot is noted as CSa, and Melee Charge Shot is noted with CSb.

    15) Multi Charge Shot (MCS): Primarily same as Charge Shots, except you are required to change your lock while you are holding the button down. As you release the Charge Shot, it will target your previous target and your current target. Note that only a few units have MCS. Main weapon Multi Charge Shot is noted as MCSa.

    Note: If you melee during the MCSa charge, it will revert back to a CSa. This can be useful

    when you have already switched locks (during charging), but want to use the normal CSa instead.

    Similarly, if you use your main weapon during a MCSb charge, it will revert back to a CSb.

    16) Communication: Usable when you are playing VS or Co-Op, this will allow you to report the status of your unit to your partner.

    I will use arcade shorthands in this FAQ to represent various commands/attacksin the game, as they are much easier to write. So please read them over beforereading the move lists, or asking any question on the boards.

    ------------------------------------------3h. Terms/Techniques [003h]------------------------------------------

    Terms:------

    BR: Shorthand for Beam Rifle

    BZ: Shorthand for Bazooka

    MG: Shorthand for Machinegun

    SV: Shorthand for Tallgeese's Super Vernier

    Gerobi: Literally means "puking beam". Originates from the first VS game: Federation VS Zeon. Gerobi refers to beams that continously hit.

    For example: V2AB's CSa, Launcher Strike's CSa, etc.

    Out of angle shooting: When you try to fire your weapon while your unit is out of its shooting angle, your unit will have extra lag when you fire the weapon. All units have a different outside of angle shooting animation. For example, Gundam

    fires its BR under its arm.

    Priority: When two melee attacks clash at the same time, the attack with higher priority will override the other.

    Down Value: The factor that determines when your unit will be downed by attacks. The down value limit is at 5. Once the limit is reached, your unit will be rendered useless until your unit gets up. When a unit is downed, it is indicated by a yellow lock status in the targeting system. Usually Beam Rifles have a down value of 2, and one hit of a melee attack (after the initial hit, initial hits of melee attacks generally have a down value of 2 or greater) generally have a down value of 1 or less. Down values will be

    reset after several seconds.

    Down: When a unit is downed, it will be indicated by a yellow lock status in the targeting system. During this time, you will not be able to hit the downed unit.

    Superarmor: When a unit gains superarmor, it will not be flinched by attacks. However, You can force the superarmor unit down by using attacks with instant down attributes. You can also force it down by filling its Down Value up to 5.

    Cut: This is a term for interrupting another unit's action. For example, if you interrupt God's melee combo on your ally by firing your rifle, this is

    considered to be a cut.

    Second Impact: Mainly refers to units having a CS doing a BR->CS by using the Quick Charge technique.

    Damage Correction: The value associated with all weapons/attacks. The attack you make after the initial attack's damage correction value.

    For example: Attack 1 has a damage correction value of 60%, the attack you make after attack 1 will be

    multiplied by 0.6

    Cancel Correction: When a unit performs a cancel on its attacks (eg. Gundam's a-ab), the latter attacks will receive a 50% adjustment in damage. Note that this isn't the same as second impact.

    Guts Correction: As your unit's HP decrease, your unit's attack and defense will be increased accordly. The lower your HP, the bigger the correction. Attack power starts increasing at around 50%~ HP. Defense starts increasing around 18%~ HP.

    Critical Cost Gauge Correction: When your team's cost gauge flashes, and when your HP is below 25%, you will receive a

    boost in attack and defense. This can stack with Guts Correction.

    Friendly Fire Correction: Friendly fire damage are reduced to 1/4 of their original attack power.

    Consecutive Win Correction: As one team wins, they will receive a slight reduction in attack power, as well as a slight reduction in defense. Of course, the more wins, the bigger the correction rate. You can turn this off in the online rooms if you are the host.

    Damage Level: There are 8 damage levels in the game, the default is at 2. With each increment in damage level, damage will be increased by 0.1 times.

    Techniques:-----------

    Draining: Some attacks can leave the target standing instead of send them off flying. When a player does this on purpose, it is considered to be draining. For example: Infinite Justice uses the whole nb set and then cancel into the anchor and BDC away.The anchor resets the unit

    back to a hit stun state instead of getting blown away. The important part here is that the unit is not downed. If you wait a little bit, the target's down value would be reset and you would be able to dish out another combo. This is considered to be draining. It can be used to deal out a large amount of damage in a short period of time, instead of downing the target and wait for them to recover. However, draining's effectiveness have been greatly reduced as down value requires a much longer time to reset now.

    Quick Charge (QC): QC means firing a CS right after your main/melee attack. Basically, if you want to QC a CSa, fire a CS right after using your main weapon. In the case for CSb, fire CSb right after pressing the b button. This can be done by holding

    down the button until the charge is 80~90% full, release the button to fire the weapon, then quickly hold the button down again to charge it to 100% and release it. What happens is that you will fire the weapon, and then immediately follow up by your charge shot.

    Charge Shot Cancel (CSC): As implied by its name, you use a charge shot to cancel an action. This is, of course, done by using the CS right after whatever you want to cancel. Note

    that CSC DOES re-aim like it did back in the AvZ

    Ground Jump Cancel: Only for units with Ground BD. During a Ground BD, if you input a jump and then immediately step, your Ground BD will turn into a ground step.

    BD Jump: After an air BD, if you tap/hold the jump button and then input a direction, your unit will do a jump with the momentum of the BD carried over. This allows your unit to move further away. This technique is one of the fundamentals of this game. Make sure your directional input is neutral when you input the jump.

    Note that if you do it too fast, it may not register. If you do it too late, the momentum won't carry over.

    Vertical Boost Turning: During a vertical boost, you can turn your unit around quickly by rotating your input direction. Of course, different units will have a different turn speed. This is mainly used to avoid out of angle shooting.

    Step Cancel (SC): Step cancel is done by cancelling a step by tapping the jump button after a step. While a prominent technique in the AvZ series, it is nowhere as strong in EXVS. Currently its used to let yourself drop after performing a step. The motion

    is also not as smooth as it was in the AvZ series.

    Rainbow Step: Rainbow Step is cancelling an attack with a step. This is called Rainbow Step as there is a rainbow effect when you cancel.

    Rainbow Step Cancel: Same as Rainbow Step, except instead you do a Step Cancel instead of a step to cancel out attacks.

    Rainbow Jump: Rainbow Jump is done by pressing the jump button at the same time as you input the rainbow step. Like BD jump, the jump will have the step's momentum carried over and will go further.

    Brake Cancel: Only usable for units with Ground BD. During the brake animation

    that occurs during the end of the Ground BD, if you input a command (For example: using assist type attacks) that stops the unit completely, your boost gauge will be completely recovered at the end of the attack/motion.

    General commands that can work with Brake Cancel: - Assist Type Attacks - Battou - Sheathe

    Angle Change Cut: There are many attacks in this game which changes the camera angle. You can skip the camera angle on many of these

    attacks by pressing down while inputting the attack. Note that this technique does not work for all attacks that changes the camera angle.

    The Battle Gauge is composed of 6000GP, and all the units in the game areseparated in to 4 cost categories: 1000GP, 2000GP, 2500GP and 3000GP.

    Of course, you may create teams with varying costs. If a unit is destroyed,the cost gauge will decrease according to the destroyed unit's cost.For example, if Nu Gundam (3000GP Cost) is destroyed, 3000 will be subtractedfrom the cost gauge.

    However, there may be Overcost involved, which we will go over next.

    Overcost System---------------

    Same as GvG/GvG NEXT, the system adjusts the HP of a newly spawned unitdepending on the amount of GP left in the Battle Gauge. If the cost of yourunit is greater than the amount of GP left in the Battle Guage, your unit'sHP will be determined by the following formula:

    Unit HP x (Cost left in Battle Gauge/Unit Cost) rounded up to the nearest tenth

    For example:

    Team A: 00 Gundam + ExiaTeam B: Turn A + Gundam

    Exia gets destroyed, but does not get a costover as there is still 4000GP left,which is greater than Exia's cost (which is 2000GP). If 00 gets destroyed atthis point, it will receive a cost over as there is only 1000GP left after 00gets destroyed. So 00 will spawn with 230HP. (680 x 1/3 = 226.6667->230)

    ------------------------------------------3j. Extreme Action System [003j]------------------------------------------

    Similar to NEXT Dash System from GvG NEXT/NEXT PLUS. Extreme Action is theability to cancel out of any action at the cost of some boost. You can cancelout of actions in 2 ways:

    1) Boost Dash-------------

    You can tap the jump button twice to do a Boost Dash. This can be used tocancel various movements your unit is making. This is known as Boost DashCancel (BDC). Each BDC consumes some boost, and you will not be able toBDC if your boost gauge hits 0. Of course, this can be used for chaining andcomboing purposes, but you can also cancel out of various delays. For example,

    you may BDC right after/during the Satellite Cannon to cancel the lag.

    Note that BDC does NOT lose the incoming attacks' tracking, they will stillbe able to track you down. So please do not think BD-ing will get you out ofeverything.

    Note that BD-ing backwards will net you a speed decrease penalty.

    New to EXVS, you can now use a step to cancel out of melee type attacks. Thisis known as Rainbow Step as there is a rainbow effect when you use it. Unlikeusing BDC, this will actually cut tracking as it is still considered a step.This is the main method for melee combo-ing in EXVS.

    Mastering the use of these Extreme Actions will be your first step to masteringthe game.

    ------------------------------------------3k. Extreme Burst System [003k]------------------------------------------

    Awakening has returned to EXVS in the form of Extreme Burst (EX Burst). This isone of the most important aspect to EXVS. Activating it at the wrong time cancost an entire match, so tread carefully.

    EX Burst is triggered by pressing the three buttons, abc (Main+Melee+Jump) whenyour EX Gauge is more than half full.

    When you activate EX Burst, your unit will gain these bonuses:

    - Boost Gauge refilled.- Weapon ammo refilled (except for some certain weapons).- Weapon reloading speed increased by 1.5x.- Range/Melee weapons startup and animation sped up.- Charge Shot charging time decreased.- Damage dealt increased by 5%. However, God, Master, and Dragon gains a 20% damage increase.- Damage received decreased by 20%. However, 00 Gundam, 00 QAN[T], Exia, Dynames, Cherudim, Raphael, and Char's Gelgoog only gains a 5% decrease.- BD Speed increased.- All the down values of ranged and melee attacks are decreased.- If your EX Gauge was full, you can break out of enemy attacks as you activate your EX Burst. Note that this will consume 30% of your EX Gauge.

    - Some units have a special attack in EX Burst, which can be performed by pressing abc again during EX Burst. These are EX Burst attacks and are listed underneathe.

    So how do you build up the EX Gauge? The gauge will fill up when:

    - Get shot down when you are not in EX Burst.- Your unit takes damage.- Your ally gets shot down.- When you deal damage.- When you successfully block an attack.

    However, note that if you get shot down during your EX Burst, you will lose allthe meter in your EX Gauge and you will NOT gain any meter when you respawn.So try to avoid getting shot down during EX Burst.

    TRANS-AM (EX Burst) Abilities:

    - In EX Burst, 00 will automatically dock with 0 Raiser and activates TRANS-AM.

    Which allows it to go into TRANS-AM Raiser mode. This does not consume the 0 Raiser gauge.- Unlike other regular awakens, TRANS-AM only grants 5% bonus in attack powerand defense.

    - TRANS-AM Raiser gains additional hits on its BD melee and a new special melee attack.- TRANS-AM Raiser automatically Quantumize when it is hit, but this will only occur when TRANS-AM Raiser isn't attacking. This will consume 20% of the awaken gauge.- During Quantumization, TRANS-AM Raiser will be in yellow lock and cannot be targeted.- If a direction was inputted, TRANS-AM Raiser will move according to the inputted direction and reappear.
