KidSport™ Canada 2010 Report We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sport. KidSport™ provides grants to remove financial barriers that prevent kids from playing organized sport. Since 1993, over 250,000 Canadian kids have received KidSport grants to cover the cost of sport registration fees or equipment. In 2010, KidSport™ chapters disbursed $4.5M in grants ranging from $250 to $750 to approximately 50,000 kids from coast to coast to coast. There are 10 provinces, 1 territory and over 175 community chapters involved in fundraising efforts thanks to the active involvement of over 3,500 volunteers across Canada. Approximately 12,980 males and 7,737 females participated in over 40 winter and summer sports during 2010. KidSport is helping Canadian kids become healthier and more physically active through sport.
