Our trip started with a short bus ride from school where the children sang "Old Mc Donald"
and mimicked jungle animal sounds . We were able to see a wide variety of animals. The
children were very excited to see the mighty elephant drinking water and the tall giraffe
eating it's lunch. The lion walked right up to the window for a selfie and the tigers were an-
noyed that we woke them up from their sleep. Mr Hippo could not be bothered and merely
made grunting noises ....kinda like a deep laugh and slowly waddled out of the pool to get
some much needed rest. The crocodiles slept through it all while the monkeys put on a little
acrobatic performance for the kids. "Sort of like ninjas",
said Ahlumile .
Although the day was very hot and sunny the children
managed to walk around the zoo effortlessly because
there were many interesting animals around every cor-
ner. The children maintained their enthusiasm and ea-
gerness throughout the day.
We saved the best viewing for last. The "Amazon" was
definitely not for the faint hearted , the children made
sure to visit the scary bats, snakes , frogs and tarantulas .
We had a wonderful day with our Grade. (Submitted by Mrs Abed)

I was thrilled to receive a phone call from Mrs Diane Cleary, Flight Centre Foundation,
this week informing me that we could once again submit applications for a possible
bursary to De La Salle Holy Cross College. Mrs Cleary said that the Flight Centre Foundation
were in a position to offer a bursary to a child for high school commencing 2018. The criteria
for the bursary is as previously - a low income family, stable academic record and ability to fit
into a new and challenging environment. The bursary will include school fees, uniform, books
and extra mural requirements.
I have submitted the following children’s names to be considered for this amazing bursary :
Nontando Ashley Khoza,
Chiwendu Chloe Mbaoma,
Stacey Muzanemo and
Mphoentle Khunyedi.
After their application forms are submitted ,the girls will write aptitude tests, attend interviews
and the interviewing panel will thoroughly evaluate and examine each application before
any kind of decision is made.
Watch this space! We will be informed of the final decision within the next couple of weeks.
Good luck , girls.
Make the most of your big day today.
