State Highway 195 

• Continued construction by TxDOT on State Highway 195 will create a four-lane, divided roadway to Interstate 35 South.

Expansion of infrastructure at Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport

 

• Killeen City officials are collaborating with Fort Hood and Department of Defense officials to construct a second parallel runway at the joint-use airport. The runway will provide the capability of landing fixed wing jets to recruit an Air Force component to Fort Hood and diversify the armed forces mission.

Darnall Medical Center

• The hospital on Fort Hood has been redesignated as a medical center. The redesignation will bring approximately 2,000 new jobs to the area. Specialty areas could include medical trauma care and/or medical training.

• Construction on the $196 million medical center is expected to be complete by 2016.

• The project adds to the stabilization of Fort Hood.
