I am Ms. Jenny Wampler.This is my fifth year teaching at SDES.
I graduated from JMU.
My belief is that children learn through having a positive and caring learning environment. I will strive to always make learning fun and school successful for your child.

Name Tags and Supplies
• Wear nametag for the first week• Send in extra clothes and update them with the
season• Replace clothes if used• Return to school in a Ziploc bag with your child’s
name clearly marked• If possible donate old clothes for the clinic to use• Send kindergarten supplies and forms• Beach towel for rest time
Bus and Car Riders• Put your child on the bus in the
morning if you want him/her to ride the bus in the afternoon!
• Send any transportation changes in your child’s take home folder.
• Be sure that your child’s bus number or dismissal plan is on the fish name tag.
Arrival and Dismissal• The front doors are unlocked at 7:45.• After 8:15 your child will be tardy• Dismissal is at 2:50• Contact the school by 2:00 if there
are transportation changes.
Remember attendance is important!!
Lunch• Lunch is $2.00• Extra milk is $.50• Breakfast is $1.00• If you would like to eat lunch with your child let
me know, adult lunch costs $3.00.• Please send your child’s lunch money in an
envelope with your child’s lunch number on the envelope.
• Please help your child learn his/her lunch number. This number is on the label on the Ziploc bag.

Snack• Send a healthy snack everyday• Water will be offered, no need to
send juice boxes• Please be consistent about sending
a healthy snack• Snack donations are appreciated
Rest• Send in a towel with your child’s
name on it for rest time• We will have rest for the first
semester• Please talk to your child about the
importance of rest for him/her and the rest of the class
Specials• We have a five day rotation.• Special will be on a monthly calendar.• Be sure your child wears, or brings, tennis shoes on P.E.

Birthdays• Contact me if you would like to
celebrate your child’s birthday.• Summer birthdays will be given a
chance to celebrate with an ice cream party at the end of the year.
Fieldtrips• We will go on several fieldtrips• We need chaperones for each
fieldtrip• Let me know when the form goes
home if you are interested in chaperoning
• No siblings• Possible charge for field trips
Parent Volunteers• WE NEED YOU!!!• Sign up if you are able to come to
school to volunteer• Let me know if you are interested
in helping at home
Effective School Wide Discipline Plan
• Read and sign ESD contract• RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE SCHOLAR• Cougars will be earned for positive
behaviors.• Cougars will be spent at the cougar
store• I will need a parent to help with cougar
store.• We depend on parents to contribute
toys for the store.
Think Time• Think Time is implemented when
students show inappropriate behaviors.
• If your child has four or more think times in a week you will receive a note.
Reading Their Way• Phonics based- meaning we will focus
on the letter sound. This will help your child learn to read.
• Homework folders will be sent home T-Th.
• READ every night!!!• Please complete the assignment with
your child and initial the homework form. Return all materials the next
day.
Writing• Augusta County uses
D’Nealian handwriting• This style is encouraged from the
beginning of school.• Please work with your child to write
her/his name until s/he has mastered it.
• Journal writing and story writing will also be a part of our curriculum.
Mathematics• Children learn best through hands-on
experiences.• Workbooks will be used to assess
understanding• Packets will be sent home at the beginning of
the chapter. You may keep these at home.• We will be learning:Shape Identification, Sorting, Classifying, Writing
Numerals, Counting, Patterns, Geometry, Symmetry, Graphing, Time, Money, Addition, and Subtraction
IMPORTANT• Read the Augusta County
Handbook and the Kindergarten Handbook to extend what has been covered.
