Purpose: To interpret the changes in coolor observed in an indicatr in terms of the Kinetic Theory of Gases.

II. Observation and Analysis 1. they change colors from blue to green

2.

3. Even though the solution isnt touching the BTB, the gas particles are bouncing everywhere in constant motion, therefore reacting with the BTB and turning it blue. 4. NaHSO3+HCl----> SO2(g)+H2O+ NaCl III. Observation and Analysis 1. they changed back from green to yellow

2.

3. when mixing the NH4OH(aq)+NaCl(aq) they gave off a gas that reacted with the BTB turning it yellow. 4.NH4Cl(aq)+NaOH(aq)----> NH4OH(aq)+NaCl(aq)

IV. Summary Because gases are in constant motion, as proved by the kinetic theory of gases, the particles are bouncing around reacting with the BTB. This can be proven as BTB serves as an indicator for a chemical reaction.
