Summary
• Cash and debit cards remain the key payment methods. Newer forms of payment such as contactless payment are being used by Londoners and younger audiences
• Security concerns are cited by over 2/3s as a barrier to using new payment and banking technologies
• Over half are aware of mobile couponing and online discount services. Younger audiences are big users of these services with 45% having used online discount services 1-4 times in the past year.
• Restaurants and clothing/footwear are the most popular expenditures discounts are used for.
• A third of 18-34s agree if a celebrity they admire was promoting a clothing range this would make them more likely to look at the collection.
Summary
• We’ve become less trusting of companies and institutions, younger audiences tend to the most trusting
• Most people see their finances as being ‘about the same’ as a result of the recent budget announcements
• This year we are planning on doing more socialising at home
• During the summer 60% of 35-44s are planning on holidaying in the UK, 64% are planning on visiting a UK tourist attraction
• When it comes to purchasing our mobile phones the operating system and brand of phone are key factors.
