Call to Worship
May the life that I live, reflect your gloryMay the words that I speak, honor your name
May the thoughts that I think be pleasing unto youMay my life be a praise unto you Lord
A lifestyle of worship to fulfill your Holy purposeTo be pleasing and acceptable in your sight
Nothing else can compare to living in your perfect willMay my life be a praise unto you Lord
(Lyrics by Judith Christie McAllister)
What is worship? Worship is centred on our Holy God, who has created us in His image to worship Him, with our whole life, our whole being. Therefore, it is everything that we do, all the time. It occurs when we meet people, what we say to them, how we treat our bodies, and so much more. Our lives are to reflect Jesus and how He taught us to live. All of this is how we worship.
Jesus asked us to love one another and to love our enemies and do good to them (John 13:34 and Luke 6:35). Therefore, we worship God by how we treat all the people we encounter throughout our day. We worship God by what we say; if all our speech would edify, encourage, build-up, bring life. We worship God by remembering that our “body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,” (I Corinthians 6:19) and that we should honour God with our bodies all the time; how we dress, what we eat, how we use our bodies, how we take care of our temples.
When we gather on Sundays, we continue to worship by exalting our God corporately, through different expressions. In harmony with Psalm 150, we praise Him in the sanctuary through instruments and songs and dance and gratitude. These are all different ways we express to God how much we adore and reverence Him.
But worship ought not to be reserved for Sundays. “Worship cannot be confined to a box; worship is simply our connection to Him.” (Kim Walker-Smith from Jesus Culture) This is a very true statement. As we grasp this concept and live a life of worship every day, everywhere, every minute, then we will see revival.
Let us arise, Worshippers, and set a standard for those who are unaware, broken, confused, lost...
NOW IS THE TIME TO WORSHIP!

Heart of Worship
1
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
You cannot grow physically or spiritually without food. Just as natural food supplies energy for your physical growth, the Bible is the food which supplies energy for your spiritual growth. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Your Christian growth will be in direct proportion to your increasing knowledge of God’s Word. Personal Bible study must become a regular part of your daily routine. (F1rst Things First)
In one of Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy, he reminds the young pastor that the Word of God is useful for “teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). The Scriptures should provide the primary source from which our views about God are formed. Without the teaching of the Scriptures we can be swept away by false beliefs that can blind us from the true purpose of our lives. Misconceptions about God can lead to unhealthy mindsets that ultimately affect how we manage our lives and treat people. The Word of God directly challenges or rebukes those
mindsets and challenges us to put on the mind of Christ. This is a process, and not immediate. However, the more we are in the Word, the faster we are able to receive correction and become more Christlike.
As the process continues, we will become less focused on not doing wrong things and more focused on looking for good things to do. We will be “thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Paul’s reminder is useful for all believers. How can we grow in our faith? It all starts with reading the Word.
TECH OUT YOUR FAITH…
Attention Android and iOS users. Your smartphone or tablet offers some great ways to stay connected in the Word. Pastor Bob may prefer his paperback Bible, but the electronic format has its good points. There are some Killer Apps in the Android Marketplace and Apple Store that can enhance your personal Bible study. Best of all, my personal favourites are both free.
Bible: YouVersion (can download some versions)
Bible Gateway App (need data connection)
You can track reading plans, reference multiple translations and versions, consult study resources and share verses via Social Media. You already use your devices to deliver the content you like to have with you wherever you go. Now you can grow in your faith in more places!
If you are interested in more info on how to Tech Out Your Faith, contact [email protected].

Parenting Tips
The Bible tells children to honor their father and mother, but many kids need help understanding what honor is and practical ways to show it. Father's Day is an excellent time for mothers to teach their children how to honor Dad. Sure, you'll work with the kids to do something thoughtful such as create a card, give him a foot massage, or make him his favorite meal, but also use it as a teaching time that will last longer than the day.
Honor means treating people as special, doing more than what's expected, and having a good attitude. How can we treat Dad as special every day? One way is to develop a habit of greeting him, expressing gratefulness for what he does, and asking to spend time with him.
We look at it this way. The family is like a bucket with holes in it. Water represents the energy in family life and that energy is continually draining out because of the work the family must do such as meals, laundry, shopping, driving, and cleaning. In order for the family to work most effectively and not lose all of its energy, every person in the family needs to be adding energy. Sometimes children drain energy out of family life with bad attitudes making the job of working together more difficult.
God has instructed that honor be learned and demonstrated at home, but developing it at home is only the beginning of its benefit. Those who learn honor will be able to use it for the rest of their lives.
This idea of honor is a fun one to develop in family life and is developed in the book Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining and Bad Attitudes in You and Your Kids, by Dr. Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller, RN, BSN.
