The first ruler of Axum was Zoskales in 100 AD. The kings ruled from 100 AD-715 AD.

The titles of the kings indicate claims to rule over important Arabian Kingdoms.

The government was a monarchy.

What forces lead to the rise of Axum?

The kingdom of Axum was at the height of its power from 100-715 AD. The Aksumite king Ezana I (320-350 AD) assumed power when Axum was a strong and large empire. The king's main wealth and power came from his control of foreign trade.
