Sweden is a constitutional monarchy because it has a king, Carl XVI Gustaf, but he does not have any real power. Sweden is a parliamentary state meaning that the gov-ernment is elected by the parliament which is appointed by the people. The country is democratically ruled by a government headed by an elected prime minister. Stefan Löfven was elected Prime Minister in September 2014.

99% of Denmark's Jews sur-vived the Holocaust because the Danish organized a massive evacuation to neutral Sweden.

While it was once a great military power. Sweden has remain neutral in all wars since 1814, including World Wars I and II. Despite the country's peaceful nature Swedes over 19 years still have to complete up to 15 months of military service.

Alfred Bernhard Nobel (October 21, 1833 – December 10, 1896) was a Swedish scientist, engineer, and weapons manufacturer. He is well known for the invention of dynamite and for creating the Nobel Prize. He left instructions in his will that his money should create the Nobel Prize after read-ing an article in a French newspaper that called him the "merchant of death" and said that he would be remembered for his invention of dynamite and its ability to kill more people than ever be-fore. Nobel left 31 million kronor (the Swedish currency) to the awards after his death on December 10, 1896.

Sweden is the world's third biggest exporter of music after the US and the UK. Its most famous musical export is ABBA, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their song Waterloo. After their victory, they went on to international stardom, releasing hits such as Dancing Queen, Money, Money, Money, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Take a Chance on Me, Mammia Mia, Thank You for the Music, The Winner Takes it All, and many more. The musical Mammia Mia! and movie based on it uses the music of ABBA to tell its story. Other Swedish musical exports include Roxette (It Must have been Love), Ace of Base (All That She Wants).

• Another major Swedish brand is the car manufacturer Volvo. Founded in 1927 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Volvo is now owned by the Ford Motor Company although still makes Volvo cars under the Volvo brand.

Another famous Swedish export is flat pack furniture and the name most people associate with flat pack furniture is IKEA. Originally founded by the Swede Ingvar Kamrad in 1943, IKEA now has a presence all over the world, where you can buy modern but affordable furniture, take it home and have fun assembling it your-self.

Ikea names sofas, coffee tables and book-shelves after places in Sweden; beds, wardrobes and hall furniture after places in Norway; carpets after places in Denmark and dining tables and chairs after places in Finland.

The Swedish parental leave system is one of the most generous in the world, with 480 days of paid leave given for each child. Of the 480, 60 days are set aside exclusively for the father and are not transferable to mom.

There are tuition-free Universities in Fin-land, Austria, Norway, Germany, and Swe-den with careers in English for interna-tional students.

Sweden is famous for its Dalecarlian Horse. Or, also known as, the Dala Horse. These Dala horses are hand painted and carved.
