Dear Parents,
What an excellent week here at Kings Junior High. Thanks
to Mr. Hayward for all his hard work on the play “Annie Jr.”. The
students working on the stage and behind the scenes have done
a tremendous job in preparing an entertaining and fun experi-
ence for those who watch. We hope you have an opportunity to
come see the play. With the last performance wrapping up on
Saturday the 27th.
I also want to give a shout out to all of our winter sports
teams and coaches. Your time commitment and hard work are
appreciated. The many lessons taught beyond just the skills re-
quired are invaluable to our overall learning experience. KJH is
proud of all of our extra curricular opportunities.
The Mattress sale fundraiser information is a part of this
newsletter as well as another great opportunity that has zero cost
to us yet potential for great reward. Details to come later in this
newsletter. I hope everyone is able to have a relaxing and enjoy-
able weekend.
Have a great weekend,
Brent Allen
Assistant Principal

Mr. Ackerman speaks to SLT
Mr. Ackerman, our Superintendent, spent time with our Student
Leadership Team on Thursday, January 25th. The topic revolved
around leadership and all of the things that come with it. We appre-
ciate him taking time out of his very busy schedule to have this very
important talk. It is understood that students are our first priority
and they deserve everything we can offer.

Mrs. Griffin is this week’s Staff Member of the Week. She
was nominated for being helpful and supportive. She is al-
ways willing to step up when needed and is a tremendous

Leapin’ Lizards! The popular comic strip heroine takes center stage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. With equal measures of pluck and posi-tivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphan-age run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous and magical world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adven-ture, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Greetings from the My Energy Kit Challenge!
We hope you all had a very enjoyable holiday break and happy New Year. Are you ready for the exciting news we’ve all been waiting for? Here is a great chance for a win / win!
There’s still time to keep up the good work!
The opportunity to win $250 rewards for every 100 kit requests is still available for all participating schools through June 30. KJH IS NEARLY THERE! So, here's an update on how YOUR school is doing. Ready? Ready!
So far, Kings Junior High School has requested 97 Energy Kits and has saved 19,400 kWh of energy.
If you have reach100 or more kit requests your school receives $250. We need three more!!!! Don't stop there – your school will win ANOTHER $250 for every additional 100 kit requests.
If you have not yet reached 100 kit requests, don't fret! You’ve got the whole school year to meet the My Energy Kit Challenge and save 20,000 kWh of ener-gy, and we'll help you along the way.
Your families and staff can request their FREE Energy Kit and credit your school by going online to MyEnergyKit.orgor by calling our hotline at 1-855-386-9548.
We are encouraging staff and students’ families to request their kits and make a difference for our planet. When you request and use your kits, energy is saved. It’s as simple as that. And we’re hoping that by the end of the school year, we will have saved 10 million kWh of energy together. Can we make it?
Thank you again for all of your energy-saving efforts and for your participation in this program.

“Go out of your way to be kind to someone today”
The Car Talk section will feature a list of up-to-date topics that we recommend you
engage in conversation with your student about. They may be about the latest
events happening in the building, new social media apps, topics related to our Char-
acter Education activities, etc. These conversations are not meant to be lengthy, but
ideal for places like car rides home from school or practices. We hope this list of top-
ics will help to facilitate ongoing dialogue with your son or daughter to keep you "in
the know" with what is happening from their perspectives.
Is there a peer at school that could use an extra dose of kindness? Why?
Have you shared your concerns with anyone? What can you do to help this student?
How do you think the “see something say something” message went over from last week? Are you seeing a difference?
Give me an example where you have gone out of your way to be kind to someone lately.
