KINGS WORLD TRUST FOR CHILDREN Report for the month of July, 2016 TRUST Outreach Students All the school going outreach children have written their 1 st term exams and are waiting for their results. Report for the month of July, 2016

TRUST

Outreach Students

All the school going outreach children have written their 1st term exams and are waiting for their

results.

All children are attending school regularly and are reporting regularly except Sivasakthi and

Uchimakali. Sivasakthi has completed 10th standard and is not interested in continuing studies.

Uchimakali wants to work and support his mother.

Abitha.S participated in a dance competition and won prize.

Higher Education

Maheswari, Annaparvathi and Vijayasarathi are now attending excel school of nursing as day

scholars.

Jason has moved to second year polytechnic to a college in Coimbatore under sports merit.

Anjali is married. Her husband, sitting second right is a mechanic in a steel company near Tirunelveli.

Osanna is doing PHD in commerce. She is currently

working as lecturer in TDMNS College.

Anbu Selvam has expanded her business into a

showroom. She is now the working partner of

Suryan home appliances in Kalakkad.

Kavitha is now working as a staff nurse in Velammal hospitals in Madurai.

KINGS MATRIC HR. SEC. SCHOOL

The Mid-term exam

The first mid-term exam for students of all classes were held during the second

week of July. For students of std 9 & 11 the tests were held during the third

week of July, while std 10 & 12 have their own time-table and unit tests being

held.

The T.I.M.E. classes

The students of std 6 – 9, those who have opted to do the foundation courses for

NEET, JEE exams began their classes from the second week of July. On every

Mondays and Wednesdays, the student of std 6 – 9 have their T.I.M.E. classes

between 01 – 04 p.m.

Academics

The lessons for all classes are going ahead simultaneously as per the schedule for

the first two weeks. There is a little shuffling of time table during the other three

weeks in all bocks for classes of std 1 – 9 & 11 due to practice for External

competitions, Annual Day, & Zonal Matches.

Musical Extravaganza – Peter Pan The Hockerill College, UK visited India for the

seventh consecutive year. As every year, this

year there were 20 students under the

guidance of Mr Kevin and Mrs Shamiela,

Director of Innovation, and Mrs Anne

Rajkumar, Head of Japanese Language at

Hockerill College. The team consisted of

twenty two boys and girls who arrived on 3rd

July.

The team taught the drama, music and dance

for the performance and organised all the

costumes and props. They taught std 7 the

entire musical Peter Pan which was

performed on 15th July. The story of Peter Pan

is about the importance of dreams and putting

those dreams into practice. The performance

was an outstanding success and was

thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils and the

staff. Uncle Colin and Correspondent Mr

Navamani congratulated the students who

taught the music and the Kings School

students who performed in it. Generally the

Peter Pan drama helped the students of STD 7

in the areas of phonics, pronunciation, fluency

and Communicative English. Every year the

students of std 7 get this blessed and privileged

opportunity to be a part of an Original native

speaking English drama team at Kings School.

The students of Hockerill also taught in the

Matric Kindergarten where they specially

concentrated on the Phonic teaching and

Communicative English. They also taught the

Junior classes in the CBSE.

Competitions

Pegasus 2015 On 23rd July the Bharath Montessori School, Coutrallam held The Pegasus 2016 competitions for

all Schools over the district. Twenty two Schools participated in this. There were competitions like

Monochrome Painting, Creative Rhyme, Farmers Favourites, Painting without Brushes, Confusing

Colours, Spot Word, Medley Time, Color Clicker, Endless Story, Sprinkling thoughts, Mask Making,

Universal Steps, Beans for Brain, Paper bag making, Croon King, Group Ace, Brand Detective, Miss

& Master Pegasus, Logo Designing, War of Words. Kings Matric. And Kings CBSE School

participated with 40 and 20 students respectively.

All the students were trained for about one week in their respective competitions. There were

teachers in-charge for every event who encouraged the students.

In Monochrome Painting, Esvid of UKG won the first prize.

In Creative Rhyme, Ansley Chersha, UKG won the first prize.

In Confusing colours, Afia, std 2 won the third prize.

In Endless Story, Krithick Mukesh, STD 4, won the second prize.

In Sprinkling Thoughts, Annu Shree, std 7, won the first prize.

In Universal Steps, Varuna Devi, Sahana, Sudha, Smilin Gifta, Antrin Jisha, Abitha, STD 5 – 7, won

the third prize.

In Beans for Brain, Beno & Samuel Staineson, STD 10, won the second prize.

In Paper Bag Making, Mohmmed Afsans, STD 8, won the first prize.

In Croon King, Janarthanan & Ranet Sushmitha, std 9, won the first prize.

In Group Ace, Christina Abraham, Krishnaaveni, Sneka, Sahaya Brizlin, Christina, Ananda Prasad,

STD 9 & 10, won the first prize.

In Brand Detective, Florance Heity, Jessica Arlina, std 11, won the second prize.

In Miss & Master Pegasus, Vahana, STD 11, won the first prize and won the title, ‘Ms Pegasus

2016’.

In Logo Designing, Afrudeen, std 11, won the second prize.

In War of Words, Diffany, std 11, won the first prize.

Apart from this we also participated in Farmers Favourites, Painting without brushes, Spot word,

Medley time, Colour Clicker, Mask making and had put up their best.

We won eight first prizes, four second prizes and two third prizes. We also won the shield in the

Junior and Senior category. The overall championship was awarded to KINGS MATRIC SCHOOL.

SPORTS

Cycle Polo Tournament

On 2nd July, the Cycle Polo tournament was held at Anna Stadium, Palayamkottai. Sixteen Schools

from Tirunelveli District participated, in which there were ten boys team and six girls team. Kings

Boys team were the winners and were selected for the State level Competition. The girls team

played with the Government School and secured the second place. Mano Arvind, Nalin Kumar,

Adarsh, Sudharshan are selected for the State Level Cycle Polo competition. Among the girls,

Diffany, Vathana, Esai Keerthana and Jeya Tinu Renisha were selected for the State level Cycle

Polo Competition.

State Level Cycle Polo Match

The State level Cycle Polo Match was held on 9th – 10th July. Twenty districts from all over the State

participated, with 20 Senior and 20 Junior teams. Teams from Coimbatore, Erode, Trichy,

Kancheepuram, Tirunelveli, Vellore, Kanyakumari, Dindigul participated. The games was

inaugurated by Uncle Colin.

Kings School team played with teams from Kancheepuram, Madurai and Kanyakumari. We won in

all and in the final match played with Vellore team. In the final we won with a score of 3 : 2. The

winning boys from Kings School were Adarsh, Mano Arvind, Nalin Kumar, SudhanKrishna, Ramesh

Kanna.

Four girls represented Kings School in the Tirunelveli Senior team and played against

Kancheepuram team. The team won the third place and the girls who played were Diffany,

Vathana, Esai Keerthana and Jeya Tinu Renisha.

All the winners were congratulated by Dr Kumara Murugan, President of Cycle Polo Association,

Mr Xavier Jothi Satgunam, District Sports Officer, Uncle Colin Wagstaff and Mr Navamani. The

prizes were given away by Mr Navamani.

Basketball Friendly Match

Friendly Match : On 9th July the Super Senior Kings Basketball team played against PSN College.

We lost against them, the score being 78 : 67.

On 13th July, the Kings Junior and Senior Basketball team went to play with Crescent School,

Tuticorin. Our Junior boys lost against Crescent Junior Boys with a score of 31 : 45.

The Senior Kings Basketball team played against the Senior Crescent school team and won with a

score of 59 : 41.

Jeyandra School Tournament

On 19th – 20th July, the Jeyandra school held an Inter School competition, in two categories –

Junior and Senior.

Kings team – In the quarter finals, the Junior Basketball played against Bell School, Tirunelveli and

we won with a score of 45 : 19. In the Semi – fonals, Kings Junior team played against SDAT,

Tirunelveli team and the score was 53 : 47, and we won the match. In the finals, Kings Juniors

played with Xaviers School, Palayamkottai and we won by 50 : 23. We were the winners of the

Tournament.

In the Seniors category, semi-finals, we played against SDAT, Tirunelveli and the score was 55 :60.

We lost the match.

KINGS BASKETBALL TROPHY

The Kings Basketball Trophy was held on 22 – 24th July. The matches were under the Junior and

Senior categories. Teams from all over South India were invited. Twenty teams in Junior category

and Seventeen teams in Senior category participated.

The tournament was conducted at knock out - League basis. Four teams were qualified for the

League stage from the Knock – out stage.

In the Juniors, Kings team, Velammal (CHENNAI), Santhal Jothi (Kerala), SDAT (MADURAI) were

qualified. The first match was between Kings and SDAT (MADURAI). The score was 64 : 41. The

Junior Kings team won the match.

Shantal Jothi and Velammal played the next league, with a score of 56 : 21. Shantal Jothi won the

match.

The next league was between Kings and Velammal. Kings lost the match with a score of 43 : 51

The next league was between SDAT (Madurai) and Shantal Jothi, in which Shantal Jothi won with a

score of 66 : 42.

The next league was between Kings and Shantal Jothi, the score being 48 : 62.

The next league was between SDAT (Madurai) and Velammal, the score being 60 : 30. Velammal

Chennai won the match.

In the final standings, Shantal Jothi (Kerala) were declared as winners; Velammal – 2nd place , and

Kings Juniors were the 3rd place, SDAT received the fourth place.

In the Senior category, four teams were qualified from the knock out stage. Teams being : Kings,

SDAT (Tirunelveli), Shantal Jothi (Kearla), SDAT (Madurai)

The first league was played between Kings VS Shantal Jothi, the results were 62 : 30 - Kings won

the league.

SDAT (Madurai) VS SDAT (Tirunelveli) – score 81 : 69 – SDAT MADURAI wins the match.

KINGS VS SDAT Tirunelveli – 51 : 54 – SDAT wins the match.

SDAT Madurai VS Shantal Jothi – 55 : 38 – SDAT Madurai won the match.

SDAT Tirunelveli VS Shantal Jothi – 55 : 43 – SDAT Tirunelveli won the match

Kings VS SDAT Madurai – 55 : 67 – SDAT Madurai won the match.

In the final standings, SDAT Madurai gets the first place, SDAT Tirunelveli gets the second place,

Kings – 3rd place and Shantal Jothi gets the fourth place.

SIXTH MOTHER SHANTHAL JOTHI TOURNAMENT

This tournament was held on 27 – 29th July in Kerala. The tournament consisted of teams from all

over Southern India. They conducted the tournament in a league –Knock out basis in two

categories – Senior and Super Senior teams.

In the Senior category, Kings School Vs Shanthal Jothi (B) played and we lost with a score of 26 :

44.

Kings Vs AKM, Changanacheri – 67 : 42 – Kings wins the match.

Kings Vs Silver Hills, Kollikode – 60 : 48. Kings wins the match.

Kings were not qualified for the semi-finals, as the total score was comparatively less to other two

teams.

In the Super seniors, the first match was played against KINGS and DON BOSCO, Kerala, where we

lost – 45 : 47

The next match was played against Lourdes School, Kottayam VS Kings – 5: 32. Kings won the

match.

Kings VS Shanthal Jothi, Muttom – 32 : 45 – Kings lost the match.

As Kings School lost the two matches in the league stages, hence did not qualify for the semi-

finals.

12th District Swimming Championship – 2016

The 12th District Swimming Championship was conducted by Tirunelveli District Swimming

Association at Anna Stadium, Palayamkottai on 2nd August. There were 350 students who

competed the competition. Thirty two students, from Kings School participated.

The winners in the girls category are:

Sharmila, std 10, won 1 Gold in 100 M Breast Stroke and 2 Bronze in 200IM in 4 * 100 FS Relay.

Marimuthu, std 9, won 1 Gold in 100 M Back Stroke, and 1 Bronze in 4 * 100 FS Relay.

Sneha, std 9, won 2 Silver in 100 M Back Stroke, and a Bronze in 100 M Breast Stroke & 4 * 100 FS

Relay.

Jerin, Std 8 won 2 Silver in 100 M Butterfly and a Bronze in 100 M Breast Stroke & 4 * 100 FS

Relay.

ThangaPriya, std 9, won a Bronze in 100 M Breast Stroke.

Darice Asina Devi, std won 3 Bronze in 50M FS, 1 Bronze in 50M Back Stroke, 50M Breast Stroke, 4

* 50 M FS Relay.

Abirami, std 5, won a Bronze in 4 * 50 M FS Relay.

Harshika, std 5, won a Bronze in 4 * 50 M FS Relay.

Nehal Pragya, std 4, won a Bronze in 4 * 50 M FS Relay.

Among the Boys category, Ajay Vishva Raj, won 1 Silver in 4 * 50 FS Relay and a Bronze in 50 MTS

FS.

Sanjeev Athavan, std 4, won 3 Silver in 50 MTS Butterfly, 100 IM, AND 4 * 50 FS Relay.

Kishore Ramnath, std 4, won 2 Silver in 50 MTS Breast Stroke & 4 * 50 FS Relay.

James Bevan, std 4, won 1 Silver in 4 * 50 FS Relay.

Siranjeev Athavan, std 3, won 2 Gold in 25 MTS Breast stroke & 4 * 25 MTS FS Relay, 1 Silver in 100

IM, and 1 Bronze in 25 MTS FS.

Sudheesh, std 3, won 1 Gold in 25 MTS Breast stroke & 4 * 25 FS Relay, 2 Bronze in 25 MTS Back

Community Action Team

The Scouts Guides organization

The Cheranmahadevi Education District Rajyapuraskar Award Exam was held on 27th – 29th July at

Sunderavilas, Papanasam. Sixteen schools from Cheranmahadevi Education District participated in

this camp.

Twenty students from Kings School participated in this three day camp (Eleven boys and nine

girls). The students had their exam on 28th July – Prayer Song, Flag song, Motto, Estimation,

National Anthem. The second day they were asked to show the various knots in Scouts and

Guides. They also had a written test. The students were asked to show a demo on First Aid during

emergency.

They completed their exams successfully and all students returned back on 29th July.

17 on July 13, 2016 to

inculcate leadership

qualities among its

students. The leaders

were selected in the

parameters of regularity,

originality and

spontaneity in their

works. There are three essentials to leadership: humility, clarity and courage; but the supreme

qualities of leadership are Perseverance and Integrity. The leaders were well informed about these

qualities as they need to lead their friends in the right path. Uncle Collin and the Correspondent

also stressed upon these qualities as they gave away the sashes, badges and lit candles.

The leaders took the oath which was led by

Miss. Levina. The leaders were instructed that

they should become a source of inspiration for

their fellow students. Uncle Collin and the

Correspondent congratulated the leaders and

wished them their best. As a token of patriotism

the National Anthem was sung with due

respect.

Project Display Social Science Project Display

A school level Social science exhibition was displayed on 13th July 2016 in Kings CBSE. The students of

Class 4 – 8 were involved and encouraged to make use of their summer vacation to collect

references/articles/materials etc. for the Exhibition. Every children prepared their own model in the given topic

and explained the topic after understanding and learning the scripts given to them.

The students were instructed to make exhibits through models, charts, album etc on the given topic . Nearly

100 different topics were covered from history, geography and civics. All students enjoyed collecting the

relevant contents from different resources. There was lot of information in front of the children as it kept the

children engaged, exploring and empowering for the above purpose. Parents, Important personalities from

Kings Matriculation School and the team from Hockeill, Anglo European College, UK were invited for the

Exhibition being organised at school. The Social Science Exhibition at all levels was conducted with enthusiasm

and earnestness, so that the aim objective of the event is fully realized.

All the students and the parents visited and viewed the project. The students were encouraged , motivated

and this exhibition was very helpful for increasing the self confidence of the children.

Pegasus 2016

The Pegasus 2016 competition conducted by Bharat Montessori School Coutrallam, was held on

23rd July, whereby 29 students from Kings CBSE Schools participated. The events were Spot Word,

Painting without Brush, Colour Clickers, Endless Story, Beans for Brain, Medley time, Mask making,

Paper Bag making, Croon King, Universal steps, Confusing Coulours, Sprinkling Thoughts, Group

Ace.

In Spot Word, Jebisha Micheal, Grade 2, won the first prize.

In Croon King, Akhil Meeran & Kader Mohideen Nafiz, Grade 8, won the second prize.

The other participants were Angel Abisha, (2); Akshara Bala (1); Akshay Vishwanath (4); Dinesh

Surya and Akash Sengutavan (8); Sahaya Snowro, Varsha, Iniya Nirumala, Jero Rithisha,

Mahalaxhmi, (all grade 3), Harshini (4); Jermsey Abisha (6); Manoth (6); Jaisy Rofina (8); Joseph

Felix, Krishna Venkat, Alwin Jefo Raj, Karthika, Muthamizh Santhiya, Jane Anushka (all grade 6);

Derin Jose Samantha (3); Fathima Faseeha (5); Sahaya Warsha Jose, Sahaya Caesariaus Nivisha,

and Thamizhini (8).
