Announcements… MORE REALLY BIG NEWS: The following resolution was approved by an

81 to 7 vote: "The membership of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor accepts and approves the recommendation of the Long Range Planning Committee and the Board of Directors to purchase 100 N. Staebler Road from Sheridan Books, per the letter of intent and the sales agreement to be signed, assuming all the contingencies are met or removed to the satisfaction of the Board of Directors." The vote by paper ballot followed years of work of the Long Range Planning Committee. Dan Dever answered several questions from the members prior to the vote. As President John Dahl said, “now the real work begins.”

Dave Drake reminded us of the February 19th Morning Edition meeting at 8:30 at Glacier Hills. John U. Bacon will be the speaker. We should see if it will be possible for Letitia Byrd to attend

Fines and Happy Dollars… Fines: Dan Dever fined all on the north, south east and west sides of the room just be-cause….. and to help meet the budget. Happy Dollars: Kathy Barden-Perlberg put in $5 for brother Bob who was hoping to entice a sub at furniture this Saturday, and Mike Dabbs stepped up . Chris Winkler was happy that Editor Cliff Sheldon has possibly saved him from a car accident. Jane Talcott contributed a buck to endorse the computer whiz David Wisniewski who helped out Wash-tenaw Camp Placement (Jane has contact info). Gary Donner was happy for his math teaching son who was admitted to a Ph. D program and so there will be a doctor in the fam-ily. Ron Williams was glad to be back at the meeting after 8 weeks of dealing with an ill-ness with a really long name. Jim Kane was happy that things are going well for U.S.A. at the Olympics. Fred King contributed $20 for missing out on the recent spaghetti dinner and a Friday the 13th buck. Don Clewell was happy to celebrate his 46th wedding anniver-sary. Max Ziegler was trying to form and interclub at an upcoming Caribbean Princess cruise. Betsy Ford was happy because of daughter’s wedding and mother’s visit. Dale Les-lie was pleased that Steve and Wendy Hiller’s daughter led the pledge of allegiance at MSU with president Obama in attendance. Fred Sanchez gave Chris Winkler a couple of mini Porsches and was happy for son and grandson Federico. Al Engerer showed off the Hardware Department donation of “Wash Away Your Sins” bubble bath which he auctioned off to high bidder Martha Petroski (draw your own conclusion). John Dahl happy for Wisconsin BB victory. Cliff Sheldon was happy for John Goff who is coaching his grand-son’s basketball team in Dexter, and for Harry and Carmen Cross and the Cross Founda-tion that were honored for their long-time support of the Ann Arbor Symphony. Dave Drake was doubly happy. Dave and Marilyn were delivering Meals on Wheels, became stuck and a passing tow truck driver pulled him out and declined any fee. Dave then no-ticed he had a flat tire and the same tow driver changed the tire for the same price as the first service. Those Kiwanis bumper stickers pay off!
