Survey on Attack Graph Analysis for Network Security

Mrs.N.R.Patil,

(Presented a paper on ‘How to Improve the Presentation Skills’ in the conference organized by the

Amrutvahini College of Engineering, Sangamner which was held on 24th and 35

th of February 2012)

Abstracts:

In today’s network, security analysis is a difficult task for most of the security administrators. In network

security an attack graph is very important because it shows all possible attacks in a network. It also shows

all possible paths of actions consisting of network vulnerability exploits that can increase network

security weaknesses. Using attack graph, analysis can be done effectively. Since attack graphs are large

and complex, most of the work had done on generation of attack graph and not on analysis of attack

graph. System administrators analyze attack graphs to understand where their system weaknesses lie and

to help decide which security measures will be effective to deploy. The aim of this paper is to study

different ways to analyze attack graph and to provide future scope for research on these attack graphs.

Biometric system based on something about you i.e. unique features about the human being, To overcome

the problems of traditional methods, in this method recognizing the identity based on his/her

physiological and/or behavioral features. Biometric features cannot be forgotten, lost or stolen as easily

and also it is difficult to circumvent like password or ID cards. Biometric system offers reliable solution

for the authentication of the user in identity management systems. with the widespread deployment of

biometric systems in different application there is a need of providing security and privacy to these

system. Changeability is due to limited number of biometric features and privacy protections of biometric

templates are two important issues that need to be addressed for widespread deployment of biometric

technology.

In proposed system to address these issues of changeability and privacy protection in biometric

systems a random projection method with sorted index number technique is used. We will try to use

image processing techniques to reduce noise from an image so that random projection will give higher

performance.

Artificial Intelligence Mr. D. R. Sirsath,

(Presented in International Conference on Novel horizon and prospectus of industry Institute Interaction

organized by Shri Shankar Prasad Agnihotri Collage of Engineering, Wardha on 5th Feb to 6

th Feb 2012)

Abstracts:

Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science which deals with helping machines finds solutions to

complex problems in a more human-like fashion. This generally involves borrowing characteristics from

human intelligence, and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way. A more or less flexible

or efficient approach can be taken depending on the requirements established, which influences how

artificial the intelligent behavior appears.

Humans throughout history have always sought to mimic the appearance, mobility, functionality,

intelligent operation, and thinking process of biological creatures. This field of biologically inspired

technology, having the moniker biometrics, has evolved from making static copies of human and animals

in the form of statues to the emergence of robots that operate with realistic appearance and behavior. This

paper covers the current state-of-the-art and challenges to making biomimetic Robots using artificial

muscles.

Image Completion using Fast Marching Method

Mrs. J. S. Bhamre

(Presented in International Conference on Recent Technology-ICORT 2012, organized by Institute of

Knowledge College of Engineering, Pune on 9th Feb to 11

th Feb 2012.)

Abstracts:

Digital inpainting provides a means for reconstruction of small damaged portions of an image. Although

the inpainting basics are straightforward, most inpainting techniques published in the literature are

complex to understand and to implement.

We present here a new algorithm for digital inpainting based on the fast marching method for level set

applications. Our algorithm is very simple to implement, fast, and produces nearly identical results to

more complex, and usually slower, known methods. Unlike the original fast query method which

decompose exemplar into frequency coefficients and then select fewer coefficients to search best

exemplar patch using search array structure which takes more time even for smaller & simpler images .

Keywords—: Image completion, examplar, DCT, fast marching

An Improved Approach for Extended Visual Cryptographic Scheme

Mrs. A. J. Jadhav

(Presented in International Conference on Computational Intelligence Applications-ICCIA-2012,

organized by Sandip Institute of Technology & Research Center, Nashik on 11th Feb to 12

th Feb 2012.)

Abstracts:

Visual Cryptography is an image encryption technique used to hide the secure information in images. It

allows the encryption of secret image into n number of shares and distributed into n number of

participants. For example in (k, n) secret sharing problem the secret image can be visually recover by

stacking together any k or more transparencies of the shares. But cannot reveal any secrete information by

stacking less than k transparencies together. The Embedded EVCS is constructed by adding random

shares of secret image into meaningful covering images.

The proposed system will work with color images which is not possible with existing embedded EVCS

approach. This approach will test the same algorithm for color images which will take the R, G, B values

separately and add shares to it. It will improve the contrast of the recovered secret image and produce

clear resultant image.

A Novel Approach for Changeable & privacy Preserving Biometric Verifications

Mrs. A. J. Jadhav

(Presented in National Technical Symposium on advancements in Computing Technologies-NTSACT-

2012 organized by Amrutvahini College of Engineering, Sangamner on 24th Feb to 25

th Feb 2012.)

Abstracts: Biometric template protection and changeability are most of the important issues in deploying a practical

biometric system. In proposed technique Random projection method is used for the transformation of

feature vectors using random projection matrix in to a subspace. Further we are going to use encryption

and multiplexing scheme on these transform feature vector. An orthogonal coding scheme i.e. Walsh

Code technique is used to encrypt the random projections. Multiple encrypted random projections are

then mixed together using multiplexing process. The proposed encryption and multiplexing scheme will

not only improves the utilization of system resource by reducing the storage and bandwidth requirement

but also enhances the security of the users biometric information by making information inaccessible to

intruder having a random code. The proposed scheme has a simple architecture. If any biometric template

compromised by an imposter, We can easily generate new template by just varying the random matrix so

that imposter cannot use stolen template to access the users account and also not able to get any

information about the user.

Abstract:

Cloud computing is offering utility oriented IT services to users worldwide. It enables hosting of

applications from consumer, scientific and business domains. However data centers hosting cloud

computing applications consume huge amounts of energy, contributing to high operational costs and

carbon footprints to the environment. With energy shortages and global climate change leading our

concerns these days, the power consumption of data centers has become a key issue. Therefore, we need

green cloud computing solutions that can not only save energy, but also reduce operational costs. The

vision for energy efficient management of cloud computing environments is presented here. A green

scheduling algorithm which works by powering down servers when they are not in use is also presented.

(Presented in Tecnno-innova-12, National level Paper Presentation Competition organized by Bharti

Vidyapeeth Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Technology, Pune on 2nd

Feb to 3rd

Feb 2012)

Abstract:

Concepts from information theory, as they relate to the goals and evaluation of data compression

methods. The aim of data compression is to reduce redundancy in stored or communicated data, thus

increasing effective data density. Data compression has important application in the areas of file storage

and distributed system Comparisons of both theoretical and empirical natures are reported and

possibilities for future research. A simple characterization of data compression is that it involves

transforming a string of characters in some representation (such as ASCII) into a new string which

contains the same information but whose length is as small as possible. Data compression has important

application in the areas of data transmission and data storage.

The two main variants of the algorithm were described by Ziv and Lempel in two separate

papers in 1977 and 1978, and are often refered to as LZ77 and LZ78. The Lempel-Ziv algorithms

compress by building a dictionary. The algorithms differ in how far back they search and how they find

matches. One of the biggest advantages of the Lempel-Ziv algorithms and reason for its success is that the

dictionary operations can run very quickly.

(Presented in International Conference on Novel horizon and prospectus of industry Institute Interaction

organized by Shri Shankar Prasad Agnihotri Collage of Engineering, Wardha on 5th Feb to 6

th Feb 2012)

Abstract: Remote sensing has traditionally been the province of Earth scientists and the national security

community. Early civilian satellite instruments were designed largely to meet the needs of weather

forecasting, earth systems science and natural resource management. Social science applications were,

generally speaking, not even considered. However, since the late 1980s, this began to change as a number

of social scientists began to apply remote sensing imagery to understand the underlying social processes

behind diverse phenomena such as deforestation, desertification, and urbanization. Since that time there

has been a dramatic increase in the quantity and breadth of research that can be broadly categorized under

the umbrella of "social science," with newer applications in the fields of archaeology, demography, and

human health and epidemiology. It include an introduction to remote sensing for non-technical

audiences, addresses fundamental issues in the application of remote sensing to social science research

questions. Examples of social science applications in six different fields, and provides a table listing the

characteristics of major sensors.

Abstract:

Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science which deals with helping machines finds solutions to

complex problems in a more human-like fashion. This generally involves borrowing characteristics from

human intelligence, and applying them as algorithms in a computer friendly way. A more or less flexible

or efficient approach can be taken depending on the requirements established, which influences how

artificial the intelligent behavior appears. Humans throughout history have always sought to mimic the

appearance, mobility, functionality, intelligent operation, and thinking process of biological creatures.

This field of biologically inspired technology, having the moniker biometrics, has evolved from making

static copies of human and animals in the form of statues to the emergence of robots that operate with

realistic appearance and behavior. This paper covers the current state-of-the-art and challenges to making

biomimetic robots using artificial muscles.

Abstract:

The demand for electricity is growing at a much faster rate than the generation and supply of electricity.

The shortage of electric power will have cascading effect on industrial production & economic

development.

The shortage of power can be met by addition to existing generation capacities & by more efficient

utilization of existing capacities. Because of severe resource constraints investment in new generation

capacity is limited & again ,the additional generation capacity would be available after a long gestation

period. In this context it is essential that the maximum should be achieved out of the existing capacity &

that we have to go for optimum investment. Energy audit & conservation of exiting energy & its optimum

use is must in a country like India.

The paper contains CASE STUDY on Energy conservation in Indian power system by using high

efficiency transformer.

Abstract:

Expert assessments for crop and range productivity of very-large arid and semiarid areas worldwide are

ever more in demand and these studies require greater sensitivity in delineating the different grades or

levels of soil salinity. In conjunction with field study in arid southeastern Oregon, we assess the merit of

adding decision-tree analysis (DTA) to a commonly used remote-sensing method. Randomly sampled

surface soil horizons were analyzed for saturation percentage, field capacity, pH and electrical

conductivity (EC). IFSAR data were acquired for terrain analysis and surficial geological mapping,

followed by derivation of layers for analysis. Significant correlation was found between EC values and

surface elevation, bands 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Landsat TM image, and brightness and wetness indices.

Maximum-likelihood supervised classification of the Landsat images yields two salinity classes: non-

saline soils (EC < 4 dSm–1), prediction accuracy of 97%, and saline soils (EC > 4 dSm–1), prediction

accuracy 60%. Addition of DTA results in successful prediction of five classes of soil salinity and an

overall accuracy of about 99%. Moreover, the calculated area of salt-affected soil was overestimated

when mapped using remote sensing data only compared to that predicted by additionally using DTA.

DTA is a promising approach for mapping soil salinity in more productive and accurate ways compared

to only using remote-sensing analysis.
