Stop wasting your time complaining

“People visited a wise man complaining about the same problems over and over again. One day, he decided to tell them a joke and they all roared with laughter.

After a few minutes, he told them the same joke and only a few of them smiled.

Then he told the same joke for the third time, but no one laughed or smiled anymore.

The wise man smiled and said: ‘You can’t laugh at the same joke over and over again. So why are you always crying about the same problem?'”

Elocution

‘Uttering a word is like striking a note on the keyboard of imagination.”

Elocution is the study of formal speaking and pronunciation, grammar, style and tone. It is a skill of delivering a clear and expressive speech. It is one of the arts of delivering speeches. Students are trained about voice modulation, gesture, pronunciation and emphasis.

Keeping this in mind, ‘Elocution’ was organized on 6th august, 2019 for the students of Grades 6 to 10. It

was conducted in two rounds where in every student was given an opportunity to face the audience and speak on their chosen topic with clarity and correct pronunciation.

The participants spoke about the topics with vigour and enthusiasm. They were judged on the basis of clarity of speech, memory, pronunciation, expression and body language. Participating in elocution imbues a child with confidence as he develops apt form of expressions and voice modulation when it comes to public speaking.

Recitation

Recitation in general senses is the active reciting from memory or a formal reading of verse or other writing in front of an audience. A student would recite poems or essays either in front of a class or audience.

It helps develop memorization skills. Children also learn to pick up patterns and sequences in poem

recitation. Poetry provides a relaxed and pleasing way to practice language skills and attaining mastery over the

language.

Flood Relief Fund

“There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to help reconstruct others life.” Especially when the damage is very deep rooted, mainly due to a natural disaster.

Karnataka is currently reeling under floods. Floods continue to cause disruptions throughout Karnataka where at least 48 people have been killed and 12 people remain missing. More than 40,000 homes have been damaged and more than 3, 30,000 people have been evacuated. Train services have also been disrupted. Thirty three gates of the Tungabhadra dam have been opened to cope with the heavy rain. The situation is just pathetic and grim.

Karnataka floods have devasted 19 districts. The civilians of Karnataka had to bear the brunt of this recent torrential rain which caused deluge and has stirred things up of their life.

Multiple rescue efforts are in place for those affected by this flooding. At this juncture, it thus becomes our prime responsibility to save the victims from starving. Several NGO’s have connected to donors in order to support their work.

We at KLE School, Nagarbhavi have also worked towards extending support and bringing a sigh of hope and relief in the lives of the flood victims who are in distress. Our students, parents and teachers have donated very kindly and generously. Several items which the victims direly require, like Rice, Dal, Bedspreads, Blankets, Oil, Utensils, Cloth-ing were donated by many benevolent parents.

We would like to mention some of the names of philanthropists who have contributed in a big way.

Independence Day

It has been 73 years since India has been independent. It was on the day of 15th August, 1947, that the

citizens of India finally tasted their fruit of hard work and struggle. Even today, most people celebrate this day wih utmost patriotism and enthusiasm. We, at KLE Society’s School too, had a jaunty ceremony on Independ-ence Day.

At the beginning of the programme, the students of the marching Symphony orchestra portrayed their bellicism towards the country in a well co-ordinated display. Principal and the school topper hoisted the flag and everyone proudly declaimed the National Anthem.

Next there was a wonderful and melodious minstrel show by the students who sang a zealous patriotic song. A dance by the tiny tots of KLE The Banyan, filled our hearts with warmth and pride as they symbolized the progress of our nation and its exemplary achievers. There was a dauntless and energetic dance with daring stunts and graceful moves. The students matched with the beat and kept us on the edge of our seats the whole while.

Towards the end, Principal felicitated the top 10 scorers of the AISSE exam-2019. The programme concluded with everyone clapping with pride.

“How can we forget the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters who had put up a brave front in front of the British and did not give up at any cost?” With the same determination and courage, let us join hands and work towards making both India and the world a better place.

Fit India Movement

"Every day is another chance to get stronger, to eat better, to live healthier, and to be the best version of you" re-marked Sri Narendra Modi on 29th of August 2019.On the National Sports Day as a token of respect to the leg-endary hockey player, Major Dhyanchand, our Prime Minister initiated the 'Fit India Movement', at the IGI Stadium, New Delhi.

The programme at the stadium started by exhibiting many cultural performances which portrayed that the Indian culture, tradition and games had fitness in them. Each dance form or game increase concentration levels and strengthen us. Yoga has to be a part of our routine conveyed the yoga performance. Then the Prime Minister, who had made yoga an integral part of his life started his speech by thanking all his ministers, organizers and students who made this possible and reminiscing Major Dhyanchand, who astonished the whole world by his fitness and stamina. He stated that this important step towards a healthy India could be successful only by rediscovering the student in us. He appreciated that the programmes were so good that his speech was not required. He praised all the sportsmen who have given a new shine to our country, crossing everyone's expectations. He said that in this tech-world Fit India Movement was a must as people nowadays have neglected fitness. He stated laughing, that people today never use cycles nor work in their houses but wear a watch to count the number of steps! He said that fitness is not dieting but an exercise that can prolong our lives. As an optimistic person, PM stated that a small step can do a lot. So he said Fit India Movement aimed at a stronger and healthier India to make the world better. He said projects like Fit India Movement, Healthy China Project, and Fit Instead Of Fat Movement in Germany could bring in a big revolution. Fitness is mandatory and so its awareness. He said that there was no elevator to success and success too demanded steps that are a healthier path. He said that fitness is needed to know our body. He quoted that his government's job was just to initiate the movement but the leadership needs to be carried by each citizen. Fitness has to reach every nook and corner of India, he stated. Lastly he concluded that this pro-gramme had zero percent investment but humongous profit.

Karate is a martial art developed in the Ryukyu Kingdom. It developed from the indigenous Ryukyuan martial arts under the influence of Chinese Kung Fu, particularly Fujian White Crane. Martial arts as an educational system are of paramount importance for everybody especially for kids. Karate benefits kids at every aspect of their lives – physical, mental, spiritual and emotional. Travelling with Nature

I started writing my poem, With the help of my wisdom.

I saw the queue of the trees, Along the road side.

When the bus goes on, I saw them urging beside

I thought, “What they are expecting?” My mind says, “Right to live!”

They don’t expect lots of love, Just let them live!

While we humans take all the benefits, They stand like large sized puppets!

Do not just create problems, Find its solutions too,

Not a big work, when we cut off a tree bark, Just plant two more.

This will balance the population of trees Without any fees!

The Magical Pot of Gold Once, there lived a goldsmith in a small village of Rajasthan with his wife. He used to work hard in the morning and had a small dinner every day. One day, two thieves were wandering in the outer forest road. While walking, they found a huge stone lying on the ground. When they lifted the stone, they found something strange unusual and lastly valuable. They found a huge pot of gold. They were crazily happy, but they doubted that if it was really gold or whether someone was pranking them. To clear their doubts, they went to the goldsmith. They took him to the spot where the pot was located. When he told it was gold, they told that they both and the goldsmith would go to the same place the next morning and dig it up. The next morning, when the goldsmith woke up, got ready to excavate the place, his wife told him to carry two poisonous laddoos, just in case. As he left, he carried them. After one or two hours, they finished digging the spot, the two thieves killed him. They checked his bag that he brought. They found two tasty looking laddoos. When they ate them, it was too late before they found out they were poisoned. They died. The pot was laughing when it saw the condition of the two. The Trimurthy’s suddenly appeared and said “too much of greed always ends in bad consequences.” Just after that, the pot turned into Lord Indra and he told ,”you are right lord. The people, who have too much of greed, meet grave consequences, just like these two.”

Dark Beauty

Look she is standing there Not noticing her is so rare,

She is ready, ready to share Her light and beauty fair.

She shines bright in darkness, But fades away during the day As she moves across the sky, You’ve got to shout ‘oh my.’

She’s illuminated the whole night

You can’t blink at such a sight You’ll sure be mesmerized by her beauty light.

Oh! Lovely charming moon,

You come every night But now, I’ll wait for the passing noon,

Because I know I’ll see you soon. -Pragathi V Kulkarni , 10B

The Two Boys

In the city of Jaipur lived two boys. They were known as Ram and Shyam. Ram was born in a rich fami-ly. He was showered with whatever he desired. Even though he had a lovely childhood, he was never taught any moral values or manners and grew up to become a spoilt boy who was manner less. Shyam was born into a very poor family. His parents would struggle to earn both ends meet and most of the times he and his family would go hungry. But Shyam was taught all the manners a person should have and grew up to be a virtuous and kind man. One day an incident occured. There was a beggar who was begging for money. Ram passed by him and didn’t even notice him. When the beggar asked him for money she scolded him and threw his beg-ging bowl. When Shyam passed by the street, he noticed that the beggar was in agony. So, he decided to donate all the money he had in his wallet to the beggar. The people surrounding the area were touched by this good deed of Shyam. Little did Shyam know that the beggar was indeed a demigod in disguise. When the demigod revealed his real form, he blessed Shyam with lots of riches and success. Hence, it is said that the good comes to those who do good to others.

THE CLOUDS Clouds that wander through the sky, Sometimes low and sometimes high; In the darkness of night, In the sunshine warm and bright. Ah! I wonder how much if you Have any work to do.

Yes, we are busy night and day, As over the earth we make our day. We are bearers of the rain To the grasses, flowers and grain; We guard you from sun’s bright rays On hot summer days.

-Sumedha,5B

Season Of Rain

Here comes the season of rain And the birds chirping towards their home. Feeling safe under the trees are the animals, And the dancing peacock comes to its form. As the population of the city comes out, The wave of aroma of the wet mud flows through them. Heated with the scorching sun is the ground, Cooled down by the heavy drops of heaven.

As the Rain and the Sun Shine work together, They showcase a beauty of nature in the sky. Here comes the season of rain.

NATURE WITH TIME

As time passes by drop by drop; It becomes an inescapable sight. I find myself staring at your beauty With my curious eyes. Something that you possess Makes me feel a unique emotion; That I declare magical and extraordinary. As I saw you closer I thought about life; U celebrate your life as spring, U go through circumstances as in summer, U face uncertainty as autumn Then u open your heart in winter. Now when again time passes by, drop by drop I feel as though I cannot reach u anymore, I feel lonely now and am in a blur wondering as to when I might perish in your arms.

MY DREAM!

You come in day and night ,

Sometimes good sometimes bad

You make me rich even poor ,

You get me snakes with some cakes

You even kill me and my love

Why do you do this then and now?

You dash my car ,

eat my bar

You are near but very far ,

I feel you but can’t see you ,

why do you hide in my mind?

You wash my brain ,

make me train

flash my memories ,

with some theories

Why do you love me ?

Why do you hate me?
