KLS Gogte College of Commerce

Report on Research Centre, 2017-18

The Indian higher education has undergone massive changes in post-independence era. It has

experienced unprecedented expansion in terms of area and enrollment since 1991, but issues like

access, equity and quality remain the matter of core concern over the years. Rani Channamma

University, Belagavi (RCUB) of is one the evidences of expansion and the growth of enrollment

in this part of the country, it was established in 2010 by upgrading formerly known KRCPG

Center of KUD. Keeping in view the objectives of UGC, RCUB could introduce 4 different areas

of research centers under its province. And we are the pioneers to initiate Research Centre for

Ph.D. in Commerce and allied areas of RCUB, on 25th

August 2012 with 5 Research Guides and

30 Research Scholars.

The Research Center of RCUB in GCC is well equipped with modern research recourses like a

separate cubical with internet, printer, intercom, subscription to e-books, e-research journals and

e-articles through N-list, and supported by a common library having 73000 actual volumes.

The research environment is created by publishing annual Research Journal ‘Prashastya’ with

ISNN 2349-6487 in association with Research Center. The very objective of the research journal

is to build a strong research culture in and around the campus by publishing the articles written

by UG and PG students, the Research Scholars, the Staff, and the Guides.

Further, GCC has launched independent Faculty Development Research Center (FDRC) in 2006,

whose objectives, functions; impact and influence match with RCUB Research Center in the

campus. The FDRC and RCUB co-ordinate with each other in creating a sense of Research and

Development in this part of the country. Both function through Internal Research Committee

constituted by the head of institution.

The education liberates man from blind beliefs, ignorance, illiteracy and poverty and

gives him salvation. It helps both individuals and the society to explore their potentials.

Education is the engine of human progress. Higher education improves the efficiency of

individuals and strengthens the nation, and makes world a better place to live. The Research and

Development is the heart of higher education. The National Educational Policy (NEP-1986) of

our country has broad objectives (To access, equity and quality) to achieves the sustainable and

inclusive growth. On the contrary, the National Knowledge Commission of India (NKCI-2005)

has emphasized a policy related to education, research institutions and reforms to make India a

‘knowledge-based economy’ through Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

` Mr. Aftab Patel, alumni of our college, is a CEO of company in Oman. In late 2005, he

donated Rs 5 lakhs in the name of his beloved mother towards FDRC project. Mr. Aftab Patel‘s

timely contribution will go long way in the history of our college. Equally, our institution has

made sizable contribution and launched the project at the end of 2006.
