In summary, the Scouts have generously offered to make a donation to the St. Vincent’s Knights of Columbus for every volunteer hour we work during the upcom- ing Scouts Haunted Castle & Black Forest event (see scheduled dates on Page 5 in this newsletter). You may remember the Scouts wrote us a check for $1,198 for our support of this event last year, which was mostly made-up of volunteer hours worked by our own Youth Director & Recorder, Gene Meenagh and his wife Angie. So, can you image what we can raise if we have a few Knights volunteer for each night! This is a great opportunity to include your wife as well, as those women in the Ladies Auxiliary are encouraged to participate too. This is a great cause in not only helping our Youth in the Scouts, but a great opportunity for us to raise funds to support our Parish’s Seminarians. My hope is that every night we will have a few Knights volunteering and raise over $5,000 to support our Seminarians. All volunteers are required to go through the Diocese’s Safe Environment-Adults Program, which you can access through St.Vincent’s web-site (saintv.org) or contact Geri in the church office, and is good for five years. In addition, if your volunteer time will have you working directly with the Scouts, you will be required to complete the Scouts Youth Protection Program (see details in newsletter). We’re also in need of a number of volunteers for the Food Tent at Vincent Fest on September 30. More details will be forthcoming in September. Something to think about: In attending a recent Teen Mass, I noticed that in the top right corner of the music sheet a statement that read, “True Christianity (as with true Love) is found by serving and surrounding.” Let us surren- der our hearts to Jesus and serve one another! Please consider volunteering for these two great causes. Please pray for our Seminarians and for more good men to be called to the Priesthood: God our Father, please send us Holy and Pious Priests, all in the name of the most scared and Eucharistic heart of Jesus, all for the sorry full and immaculate heart of Mary, in union with St. Joseph. Amen. And let’s continue to keep our Church, our Priests, and all souls in our prayers: St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heav- enly hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Vivat Jesus, Mark Sorich, Grand Knight Meetings are the 1st & 3rd “Wednesdays” of the Month. Pray for all those hurt in unnecessary actions. ATTENTION !! The September K of C Member Meeting has been moved to Wednesday September 26th (was Sept 19th) to allow everyone to attend Fr. Dan’s “Evening of Reflection” in the Life Center at 7pm. It will still be a Pot Luck Dinner with the women’s auxilliary.

Membership Report...

ONLINE MEMBERSHIP IS NOW LIVE!

Do you know a practicing Catholic man looking to grow in his faith and connect with others? Have you asked him to join the

Knights of Columbus? Tell him that the Knights are committed to daily prayer, weekly Mass, and building a community of

faith. This is the Knights of Columbus difference, knowing that you are backed by a band of brothers in the quest to become

better Catholic men. Their membership gives them access to faith-building materials that will help them draw closer to God

and lead with faith.

Knights have 4 principles; charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism, Knights work in local parishes and internationally to

make the world a better place each day.

If you know someone interested in joining or learning more go to http://kofc.org/un/newjoin/en/index.html. Joining takes

only five minutes. It's a great way to get started and learn more about what we do. They’ll like what they see. We’re the

largest Catholic men’s organization in the world, and we’ll be better with them on our side.

Lady Knights....September’s Meeting

The next time the Ladies meet with us will be the SEPTEMBER 26th meeting for a Pot Luck meal. ====================================================================================================

Scouts Haunted Castle..... Here is some information for the newsletter regarding volunteering to work the Haunted Castle/Black Forest... Every adult that is working needs to complete the Diocese Safe Environment Training (https://www.saintv.org/_modules/form.php?id=45). If working in areas that requires working with any youth then BSA Youth Protection Training must also be completed and a copy of your BSA Youth Protection Certificate must be provid-ed. Go to (https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/) to complete online, takes about 45 minutes. For more information contact Darlene Howard via email at [email protected] or cell phone 260-515-9870 (text or call). As a Council, we can earn money for our own purposes, so please take time and volunteer. Thanks, Gene Meenagh ====================================================================================================

Why Go To Church.... A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. He wrote: "I've gone for 30 years now, and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers and priests are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" col-umn. Much to the delight of the editor, it went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible & receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical and our spiritual nourishment! IF YOU CANNOT SEE GOD IN ALL, YOU CANNOT SEE GOD AT ALL ! B. I. B L. E. simply means: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth!

Knights of Columbus Jeffery Goralczyk, FICF Member MDRT - Field Agent 4526 E Fox Run Dr. Syracuse, IN 46567 Insurance for Brother Knights, by Brother Knights

Field Agent Report… If you’re like me, you derive great joy from your children. It’s a great feeling when a teacher, coach or fellow parent compliments you on your child. We all know that raising children these days is no easy task, especially when the values we’re trying to instill in them – concern for others, accepting responsibility for their actions, saving money rather than spending it – seem to run counter to what society is trying to teach them. Yet these are exactly the values that tend to draw compliments from teachers, coaches and fellow parents. We also know that the best way to teach is by example. If you carry enough life insurance to protect your family, and if you share with those of your children old enough to understand - why that’s important, you’re exhibiting and imparting many of the values you hope your children will absorb. You’ll show them by example that you love them and are concerned about their welfare. You’ll show them that you take your responsibility to provide for

your family seriously, and that you want to make sure they’re provided for even if you’re not around. And you’ll show them that investing money in your life insurance protection is more important than the new set of golf clubs you might want, the newest and best home theater system you’ve had your eye on, or whatever else you might be sacrificing to pay the premiums.

Sure, they’ll probably roll their eyes at you as you’re explaining this, and they’ll certainly moan and groan if they can’t get the newest CD, video game or piece of clothing. But they learn from what you do – just like they learn from what you don’t do. What lessons do you want to teach them?

I want to meet with you to review your existing coverage. Based upon that review, and on the comprehensive needs

Culture of Life… Hopeful Happenings ....A Mother's Hope Home....

Our home is looking better every day! Cabinets, appliances and most flooring is in!! It is so inspiring to see this house finally coming to life, knowing what amazing things will happen, here, at A Mother's Hope, for years to come. Think of all of the life changing steps that will be taken in this home!! Special Note from our Executive Director: The next chapter of A Mother’s Hope is soon to begin…..in Septem-ber we will open our doors to welcome the first mothers we will shelter. For the past three years, we have been serving home-less pregnant women with support and referrals. We have provided support for over 25 women and their babies! Recently two of these women met each other for the first time. Kadi, the young woman many of you met at our gala, has been through the struggle and fear of being alone, pregnant, and homeless. She was able to offer something that I cannot to a young woman who is currently pregnant and homeless. At our meeting, the two women spoke for quite some time, sharing their experiences and feelings throughout their own journeys. Kadi told the young woman “if I can do it, you can do it”. It was nothing short of beautiful. The women exchanged phone numbers so that they could keep in touch. Kadi had been feeling down and like her life was not going anywhere. Yet, after this meeting she said she sees that her struggle can help others. Her pain, her fight wasn’t for nothing. The young woman told us that she no longer feels alone and wants to become one of the first residents of A Moth-er’s Hope. Just a small glimpse into what A Mother’s Hope will be like. Every day I am in awe of how all the moving pieces of this project have moved together to create an organization, a home, and a path for pregnant women to find their way together, alone no more. Stasia Our men's ONLY event is right around the corner!! Tell the men in your life!! ————-> —————————————— As we anticipate the opening of our doors please keep us in your prayers!! A Prayer for A Mother’s Hope Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of life. Thank you for loving me this day and every day. Thank you for the gift of your Son who teaches us how to love others and love you. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who guides our lives and points us towards you. Most Heavenly Father, we call upon you to bless A Mother’s Hope and all those served here in your name. We ask that you watch over the mothers served here; help them to know they are loved and cherished, they are enough, and they are each your precious daughters. Help these mothers as they are challenged to strive for new futures they may have never thought possible. When the staff feel incapable, make them capable. When they are weary, give them the strength to keep going. Lord, we ask that you watch over all the little babies that will be loved in this home. Keep them safe and sound so they too can grow to know they are adored and loved. In Jesus’ name, Amen
