Brother John P. D’Ambrosio, 87, a longtime resi-dent of Marco Island, Florida, passed away sud-denly and unexpectedly on December, 26, 2018. He was born in Bronx, N.Y. on June 24, 1931 to the late Joseph L. D’Ambrosio and Theresa Cero-ne D’Ambrosio. A graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, John went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctorate (1958) from Fordham University. He was a very well-known and suc-cessful attorney specializing in Admiralty Law and Insurance Law. John served in the Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1958. He reached the rank of Cap-tain. He served in the Reserves until 1961 when he was honorably discharged. God Speed Brother Knight until we meet again.

Can you say BINGO….Yes, the game is a foot. Teams are deployed providing a first class experience to our patrons. At January social awards were presented, charity was exer-cised and we heard some timely information from our own Brother Knight Marco police chief Al Schettino…The last word: Fr Tim, a diehard Chicago Bear fan learned that 2018 was not their year! Brother Knights The Season has started, the Council held five BINGO games during the month of January. The results in terms of attendance and revenue are tracking last year’s performance. Also the Queen of Hearts continues to
grow and is proving popular with the BINGO players. We expect that we will enjoy the same results in February with the exception of St Valen-tine’s Day. Some extra incentives will be promoted to drive attendance. The Knights led by Dennis Pidherny conducted a very successful Free Throw contest at the MICMS. The Knights also supported our Sister Columbiettes at their Winter Wonderland event. In addition to attending the event, the Knights cooked a delicious dinner and served the bever-ages. It was a great evening of fun with good entertainment. February will be another busy month, four [4] BINGO games with a growing Queen of Hearts Jackpot [hopefully]. Our Council will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on February 19 to benefit the Council. The annual Tootsie Roll drive will run for three days on Marco. A group of Brother Knights will visit Everglades City Seafood Fest to park cars for Holy Name Parish and at the same time conduct an Everglades Tootsie Roll Drive. Concurrent with the Tootsie Roll Drive, many of our Brothers will be assisting at the Columbiettes Treasures in the Trunk event. I want to thank all my Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes for their dedication and hard work to support our Council, our Priests, and our Parish. You make the difference and I am proud of all you do. God Bless All, Joe Swaja Grand Knight

Dear Sister Columbiettes: Gone is January and in comes February! What a month January was for the Columbiettes…our bingos, a memorial mass delegation, a co-sponsored Rosary with the CCW and “Winter Wonderland”!!! All were well attended by Columbiettes who devoted many hours to make things happen. Two highlights were the Co-Sponsored Rosary which was so inspirational and moving. The support and feedback from San Marco Parishioners has been gratifying and much appreciated. The second, “Winter Wonderland” was a sell-out and a profitable fundraiser which will support a number of needs in our commu-nity. The Columbiette teamwork and enthusiasm was key to its success. A thank-you is extended to the San Marco Knights for assisting in so many ways. Hats off to ALL! February brings us our second “Treasurers in Trunk” event on Feb. 23. Interest for this is already evident by the number of inquiries received to this date. The highlight for February is a Columbiette event that doesn’t happen that often…….the institution of a new auxiliary in the area. After ten months of preparation ceremo-nies for a Columbiette Auxiliary at St. Agnes Parish, Naples becomes reality. In addition First and Major Degrees will take place. The San Marco Auxiliary will have 7 new members receiving First and Major Degrees and 5 members re-ceiving Major Degree that day. This is an outstanding number in each category for our Auxiliary and reflects an increase in growth for San Marco. A number of Columbiettes will be attending the ceremonies to support its new members, its advancing members and the many Catholic women of St. Agnes Parish who are becom-ing Columbiettes. Congratulations to everyone!! With all this good let us not forget the patron saint for February…. Gerolamo Emiliani. He was an Italian humanitarian and saint. He is the patron saint of orphans and founder of the Somaschi Fathers in 1767. Carpe Diem! Eileen L. Recchia, President San Marco Columbiette Auxiliary #6344 God bless, Eileen

Sir Knights and Brothers All, As we get deeper into our busy winter schedule, I thought a brief review of some of the upcoming events would be in order. We, of course, have bingo every Thursday evening. Attendance has been good. This year we have the added excitement of the Queen of Hearts Raffle at each event. The current prize to the winner is approaching $1500.00. The Knights working the Bingo have been doing an outstanding job. Tootsie Roll Drive - Special Olympics, February 22, 23, and 24th. This is your chance to help Special Need folks. We need more Knights to help at this event. It seems we never have enough help. Call Steve Vasco 847-772-2392 or Dan Moll 773-368-7200. Golf Tournament - March 10. 2019. Chair: Joe Swaja & Dennis Pidherny The Golf Tournament will be held on March 10, 2019@ Eagle Creek. Volunteer lead-er—John Caltabiano is already having meetings and can use some help (event helpers) in making this event as successful as it has been in previous years. Call John to volun-teer at 239-642-9840. Committee meetings held each Tuesday 10am—Parish hall—planning phase for Players, prizes/awards and hole sponsors etc….volunteers wel-comed! Beach Boy Tribute - March 23, 2019. The Group who will be appearing at the Parish Center has sold out the house at Broad-way Palm Theater. We would like to sell out the Parish Center.
