illustration and a personal message

Collage Blended different types of work together.

Illustrations, fonts and pieces of paper are all

added together to create a collage.

Typography Also known as font or lettering. In graphics, we

focus on typography as an art form

Key Terms

Artist Research At this point you should have two pieces of artist

research completed and it should influence your work

Collage Mixed media work can be brought together and

combined through collage

Depth As your work develops, you should be able to add layers

to your work.

Mixed Media Your work should have a variety of media in, such as;

sketching, photoshop, laser cutting, painting

This half term you will be aiming to:

Develop your chosen theme using specific materials and methods

Develop your understanding of artists; you should be able to describe how their

style and critically evaluate their work

Have a clear plan for the remainder or your controlled assessment, clearly linked

to AO4

Task: This term, we need to plan our time. You have seven weeks until the half term. It

is vital that you understand where you are going with your work and set yourself tar-

gets. If you haven’t achieved these targets you can attend breakfast, lunch or after

school clubs to help.

Knowledge Organiser - Poppy Project - Art, Graphics, Design Textiles and Food

Design: The Subjects

This half term you will be aiming to:

Develop your understanding of the design subject areas

Learn about the history of the poppy and its meaning

Develop your creativity and making skills

Art Art is drawing and painting. You will develop your

observational skills, tone and understanding of detail

Textiles In textiles you will use the sewing machines and sew by

hand. You will work with fabric and make felt.

Graphics Graphics is based on illustration and print . We focus on

typography and creating your own style.

Design Design is a mixture of art and graphics. In this rotation

you will be working in ceramics, which is an art focus.

Food In food you will learn how to cook meals, prepare food,

use tools and creative skills such as cake decorating.

In this rotation you will be creating a poppy each week. This will help you to understand the different

design areas and build up your skill set. Each area is different, however the skills can overlap. You will

learn about artists, designers, materials and new skills.

Homework will be set to complete work and build your skills further.
