REQUEST FOR SERVICE

Schools make a Request for Service on the NBRTLB website

1. Prior to submitting a Request for Service, teachers consult with the learner’s, family, colleagues, SENCO, Principal.

2. SENCO discusses the Request for Service with their liaison RTLB.

3. SENCO obtains written parent consent, and submits form.

4. NBRTLB endeavour to allocate requests promptly.

RTLB SUPPORT

Teachers – Inclusive strategies for behaviour

management, curriculum adaptation,

teaching/learning strategies, and resources

for individual specific learning needs –

Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Autism, Foetal Alcohol

Syndrome Disorder; HLN and ICS, liaison

between home and school;

Individual learners – transition to new

school; collaborative problem solving,

mentoring, resources

Small groups – peer tutoring, specific learning

programmes, social skills, reciprocal learning

Whole class – cooperative learning, Circle

Time, peer tutoring

Whole school – initiatives such as PB4L & IYT,

SENCO role, systems to ensure inclusion for

all students

Communities of Learners (CoL) -

achievement initiative support

Staff - professional development for

teachers and teacher-aides

Community Agencies—Facilitating

collaboration and referral to

Ministry of Education collaboration – with

Speech-language therapists, Occupational

therapists, Educational Psychologists, and

applications for Intensive Wrap-around

Support, Assistive Technology, Gateway,

High Learning Needs, ORS

Bilingual assessments- for refugee and

migrant learners

RTLB Practice Sequence

RTLB work through the following sequence of Intervention:
