BIENNIAL REPORTKoch Hazard Architects

2013-2015

Page 2: Koch Hazard Architects Biennial Report

The last two years have been ones of transition, refocus and renewed growth. Senior Principal Christopher Schiltz, AIA, retired at the end of 2014 after 23 years with Koch Hazard Architects. Keith Thompson, AIA, was elevated to principal and a group of very talented staff joined our team including Andrew Grove, Trevor VanConant, Chris Brockevelt, Kim Boever, Carolee Miller, Dan Olson and Kevin Jackson.

We celebrated major milestones with Scott Hogan (23 years), Tony Taylor (20 years), Glenda Schmid (20 years) and Kathy Down (16 years) who all are essential to Koch Hazard Archi-tects’ work.

We finished many exciting projects, including Raven Corpo-

rate Headquarters, the Denny Sanford Premier Center and George McGovern Middle School; and started even more new projects, including The Evangelical Lutheran Good Sa-maritan Society East Campus, the Jones Building downtown, and Sanford Imagenetics.

We updated our office to be more open, sustainable, collab-orative and fun.

We launched the new and improved kochhazard.com, high-lighting our people, places and portraits.

We are in a great position to tackle the challenges of 2015 and 2016.

TEAM & CULTURE

Page 21: Koch Hazard Architects Biennial Report
Page 22: Koch Hazard Architects Biennial Report

It is true that Koch Hazard’s primary purpose is to design great buildings for great clients. But a deeper look reveals our belief that thought-ful design can improve lives. From improved wellness for workers in healthy buildings, to lower crime rates in revitalized neighborhoods, we see that design carries powerful potential.

Being part of a community involves taking action for the common good. We realize taking care of our environment is critical and it’s the reason we’ve worked hard to partner with others to create organizations and events that raise awareness about the power of design and sustainability. Sioux Falls Green Project, Plain Green Conference, Chartreuse Bright Green Research, South Dakota Architecture Founda-tion and the Sioux Falls Design Center all exist to help create a better future for our communities.
