Operator comfort, visibility, and control are critical to precise, productive forkliftoperation. That’s why Komatsu givesspecial attention to the operatorcompartment with features that areimportant to any operator. This‘Komfort Zone’ is quiet and isolatedfrom vibrations, noise, and heat. Once behind the wheel you willexperience a forklift that is easy to useand comfortable to operate.
The free-flowing operator compartment design, with wide open (pneumatic) or semi-open(cushion) steps and uncluttered floorplate, allows for easy entry and exit from either side of the truck. Hand and foot controls are ergonomicallylocated making operation effortless. The tilting steering console adjusts to infinite driving positions through the tilt range.

‘Powershift’ TransmissionA single-speed ‘Powershift’transmission with an optimizedtorque converter stallratio is equippedwith a built-in modulating valve tocontrol and absorbshock during sudden acceler-ation changes. A 125 micronstrainer and 35 micron spin-on oilfilter increase reliability of thetransmission.

Through an excellent combination of power and performance, Komatsu’s AX20 Series delivers. The powertrain forKomatsu’s AX20 series forklift has beenspecifically developed to combinethe engine, transmission, and drive axle giving optimum power andperformance, providing the ultimatein productivity.
The K21 2.1-liter Gas/LPG engineutilizes the ECCS and Sophisticated &Optimized Fuel Injection System(SOFIS). The gasoline engine usesmulti-port fuel injection and the LPGengine uses single-port, throttlebody fuel injection. This model isavailable as a dual-fuel system,offering additional flexibility byproviding optimum performance on either fuel.
The crankshaft and camshaft haveposition sensors and each cylinder hasits own ignition coil for optimum timing. An onboard monitoringsystem controls the basic enginefunctions and determines the exactair/fuel ratio in order to deliver thetorque and speed demanded by the operator.
The aluminum-alloy head has largervalves and advanced bathtub designcombustion chambers for higheroutput and more efficient use of fuel.The connecting rod bearings aremicro-grooved for smooth operationand reduced wear.
An Engine Protection System (EPS),with two stages of excessive enginecoolant temperature sensing, preventsthe engine from overheating.

The operator has an excellent view of the systems instrumentation panel through the two-spoke steering wheel. Easy-to-read gauges and indicator lights are visible for immediate awareness of the engine status. torque converter oil cooler. Increased airflow is unrestricted through the engine compartment and directed straight through the radiator and across the exhaust system by a high-velocity, low-noise, unequally pitched,ten-blade fan. There is easy access to the reservoir for daily checks and to the radiatorthrough the sub-bonnet.
Easily Maintained Steering System and BrakesThe heavy-duty, fabricated steel steering axle has an integral double-acting,double-ended power steering cylinder which eliminates the need for draglinks and tie rods. All wheel hub bearings and king pins are readilyaccessible for lubrication and service.
The self-adjusting, Bendix-typebrakes are reliable and easy tomaintain. The non-asbestosbrake linings assure a healthier working environ-ment while the brake fluidlevel sensor alerts the operatorto check the reservoir.
