The KDPF is the key to Komatsu’s Tier 4 Interim engines, consisting of a Komatsu Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (KDOC) and a Komatsu Catalyzed Soot Filter (KCSF).

trapping it on the walls of the KCSF. The soot is then removed from the KDPF by a process called regeneration, where the soot is oxidized into CO2. This regeneration happens both passively and actively. During most periods of passive and active regeneration normal daily operation is unaffected.
