Kondrovo town - administrative center of the Dzerzhinsky District, Kaluga region, covering an area of 2,089.8 hectares. The city is situated on the River Shanya.

The first mention about the village Kondyryovo dated 1503. The date of foundation is considered 1615. Dmitry Kondyryov received in the hereditary possession of the part in the grand campaign against Lithuania. In the second half of the 17 th century near Kondyryovo arose another village Troitskoe.

Kondrovo founded in 1938 by merging the two working centres Kondrovo and Troitskoe in one town.
