Effective decisions related to oil & gas operations are made only if key personnel inthe decision making process have access to timely, quality controlled data.

Production optimisation and flow assurance

Drilling performance improvement

The ability to integrate diverse data from electronic drilling recorders, LWD, Mudlogs, and other sources is the first step to making better drilling decisions. The automated analysis of this real-time data allows asset managers to find the root causes of invisible lost time. The performance of different rigs and crews can then be compared with each other with the ultimate goal of accelerating the drilling process without compromising safety or the environment.

Aggregating, distributing, and managing data in real-time

A service-oriented architecture based on open standards is key to building a per-manent real-time data infrastructure that allows choosing ‘best-in-class’ vendors, service companies, and software applications. This architecture is one of the key components required for Integrated Operations.

Kongsberg is able to provide you with a single system that seamlessly links all of your locations across the globe including offices, rigs, platforms and service compa-nies. You have a single interface to field data, simulation results, calculated results, files, photos, reports and other information. On the rig or in the office all of the data is available to the right people at the right time and at a lower cost than you are paying now.

Kongsberg infrastructures for data availability can be created totally within your network. This eliminates data security issues associated with vendors hosting data outside your controlled environment.

Data quality control and service company governance

A standard methodology for governing the performance of vendors and service pro-viders is essential for Integrated Operations. This governance is based on ensuring real-time access to quality controlled data, comparison of field data to modelled or simulated data and reacting to anomalies and exceptions.Data from all vendors and service companies is verified using the same automated checks, customised for your needs. As a result, you gain increased confidence in the validity of your real-time data streams.

Flexible and rigid riser engineering

Over 500 projects related to concept engineering, verification, failure analysis, or independent analysis of flexible and rigid riser systems have been delivered for floating production systems, riser towers and drilling rigs.

Kongsberg's experience and knowledge embraces the entire range of issues related to the design, operation and system integrity of flexible and rigid riser systems. Our engineers combine practical hands-on experience with solid theoretical skills to solve challenges related to risers from conceptual design and into the operation phase for worldwide customers. Over years, we have developed problem solving methods, strategies and unique analytical tools, which are tailor-made for the spe-cific needs of flexible and rigid riser technology.

Simulation

Dynamic simulation

Kongsberg has been the leader in providing dynamic simulators for process, instru-mentation and control engineering for many years.

Our dynamic process simulators are adaptable to a wide range of process and plant requirements. Lifecycle simulation is a proven and powerful concept that helps reduce costs and improve efficiency in all phases of a field development project. Dynamic simulation should be used for process design verification, plant checkout, verification of control logic, preparation of operators for plant startup, and optimi-sation of plant operation.

Multi-phase flow simulation

Twelve years of research and development by SINTEF, ConocoPhillips, and Total has resulted in a new simulator providing dynamic multiphase flow simulations in either 1D or in the unique quasi-three dimensional (Q3D) version. This provides better un-derstanding of the flow regime by allowing for 3D visualisation of multiphase flow. Simple pipelines, tie-backs, subsea developments, tubing designs, flow line designs, complex geometries and pipeline networks can all be dynamically simulated.

With this new technology, Kongsberg can work with you to solve production prob-lems associated with flow assurance, hydrates, cool-down simulations, riser thermo-hydraulic behaviour and riser stability.
