This week we waved goodbye to our students from 3-6 as they headed out for their major excursions to Canberra and Dubbo. I know our students were excited with anticipation with what lay ahead and the staff were busy in their final preparations. These types of excursions are what make school memories. Thank you to Mrs Ward, Ms Cook, Mrs Simpson and Mr Griffiths who have put together wonderful excursions for our students with months of preparation. Thank you also to the parents who are supporting our students and staff during the week. Without your support, we couldn’t achieve great things. !Congratulations to Tyler Francis, Johnathon Cook and JahmarliFields of Kindergarten on their wonderful writing compositions this past week. Mrs Lawrence was very impressed with the efforts of all the boys and they were as proud as punch. Keep up the great work boys!

!Our Year 1 students couldn’t be outdone by their youngercounterparts this week with wonderful writing compositions as a part of a new unit with Miss Magann. Year 1 are composing letters to schools across Australia about Kootingal Public School and the surrounding area. Congratulations to Hope Clarke, Lily Shiels, Sophie Hogg, Emily Hatton, Menno Wallace, Cooper Higgins and Liam Jarrett. Keep up the great work students! !

!Congratulations also Naomi i Maybury and Lilly Aitken on theirgreat work in Mathematics with Mrs Morrish. Both Naomi and Lilly proudly showed their work with fractions and were happy to give me a Mathematics lesson. Great work Naomi and Lilly!

!Our Playgroup program, Little Stars, continues to go fromstrength to strength. We advertise extensively throughout our usual channels but it is word of mouth that is the most successful. As you can see by our photos, the children love it! Thank you Mrs Chegwyn for your work in this area. It is most certainly appreciated. !Our Kindergarten Bright Stars Transition program has anothersession this week. This Friday it is a full day. We only have one more session, another full day, of our transition program in preparation for Kindergarten in 2017. Our final transition session (5th session) is Friday 11th November from 9.30am-3pm. It is combined with the parent information session from 9.30-11.30am.

Our lessons continued this week in the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. This week, the students focused on the core value safe. During Wednesday’s morning assembly, the students were impressive with their recognition of examples of support within the school and Mrs Ardill role played very well too. Next week, our lessons focus on the third core value effective learners. !This week, we replaced the dancing star onthe front of the newsletter with our PBL logo. This logo will be present on many of our publications and communications, so our community will get to know PBL and its meaning very well. !Please also note that Kootingal Public School has added an additional Bronze award for each class. This is the PBL Bronze award. This award is the same as all other bronzes and can be used in the same manner to attain a Silver award. The only difference is the sticker, as it says KPS PBL. Each week has a focus on a positive behaviour and each week the PBL award for each class is directly linked to this behaviour.
