Beginnings of Korean Pop Music Korean pop music has said to begin with the introduction

Beginnings of Korean Pop Music

While under the 일본어 rule (1910-1945) the 일본어 had

taken their 찬까 and made their own collection of songs

and lyrics.

Due to this rise in 일본어 power, the first 한국어 album to be produced was made up of popular 일본어 music that

had been translated into 한국어.

낙화유수 (The Fallen Blossoms on Running Water) was

supposedly the first pop song that was

written/composed entirely by 한국사람.

Introduction of the Western Style After the partition into North and South Korea, 미국 troops

were stationed in South Korea following the Korean War in 1950-1953. Because of their stay in the country, 미국culture (including music) had become more popular. Younger generations had begun to listen to more western music.

In 1956 a radio station called “The American Forces Korea Network” began to broadcast Western music.

한국어 music had started to morph and become modeled more like 미국 music.

한국어 singers started performing for the 미국 troops in clubs and bars. Popular genres such as country, blues, jazz, and rock&roll became more popular following the production of vinyl records in the 1960’s.

The Beatles influenced rock bands to appear in 1962, this included Add4 who was said to be the first rock band to form.

Even 한국어 singers became popular worldwide.
