Please take some time to have a good read of the details and make the most of the Fete this Friday. This Wednesday, we will be hosting the first of our Kinder Student Orientation sessions with our 2019 Kinders attending and learning all about being a big Kinder kid. The sessions are as follows: #1- Wed 24 Oct, 10am-11am, #2- Wed 7 Nov 9:30am- 11am and #3- Wed 21 Nov 10am -11am. We encourage all children to attend. If you know of any locally zoned students who are coming to school in 2019, please ask them to contact the school on 49575319 for further information. A very big congratulations to the all the students in stage 2 on the exemplary behaviour at Myuna Bay camp last Thursday and Friday. The purpose of the camp was to build and enhance the independence, resilience and persistence of students across stage 2. This was achieved by offering them a range of challenges that ask students to ‘bust through their boundaries’ and take a step outside their comfort zone. Many of them did so, taking on the ‘big swing’ and going all the way to the top. The big swing was the most popular activity that ticked all these boxes. A very big thank you to Mrs Fear, Mr Warren, Miss Gillespie, Mr Baker and Mrs Crockett for their organisation and all the work that goes into having such a terrific camp. We certainly made some wonderful KSPS memories. Please see our KSPS Facebook page for photos of the camp. Great work stage 2. Our Swim School for 2018 will be finished this Friday. I know the students are really enjoying developing their skills daily and the instructors have been very impressed with how they are all trying very hard. Well done swimmers! I strongly encourage all parents to keep the swimming program going throughout the summer months so that the new skills learnt are firmly established and they have a skill for life. A reminder that consistent attendance at school is very important for students to build on and consolidate new learning. Did you know that if your child has an average of 1 day off each week that translates to almost a loss of a year and half of school by the time reach Year 12! As we say at KSPS; ‘be at school, on time, every day’. Have a great week learning and thanks for making #KSPSagreatplacetobe Susan Maxworthy PRINCIPAL STAGE 2 CAMP MYUNA BAY 2018

P&C Association

FRIDAY FUNDAY SPECIAL NEWSLETTER Welcome to this special edition of the P&C newsletter. With only a few days to go we are busy putting the final touches together for the Friday Funday. To assist you with what to expect we have put together this special newsletter to ensure you are all aware of what is in store for you at the fete. Please remember that from 3pm onwards, children must be supervised by a parent or carer. The P&C, together with Kotara South Public School, would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in organising this event. We are truly grateful for the donations and sponsorships from local businesses and community members. Thank you to all staff, students and parents for your support of this event. And a special thank you to all the volunteers who will help make this the best Funday yet! Without you, this event wouldn’t be possible. See you on Friday! Attached to the newsletter is a fete map and program. You might like to bring this along to the fete, as a printout or just refer to it on your phone.

FOOD AND DRINK OPTIONS At the Friday Funday we will be offering sausage sandwiches, vegetarian sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, soft drinks and water for sale from the school canteen. An online pre-order form is available (click here): we’d really appreciate it if you could let us know what you’d like on the night as this helps us with purchasing the right amount of supplies. Hot food will be available throughout the fete, so come and have a late lunch or early dinner at the canteen. The canteen will also be selling a selection of chips, chocolates and ice-creams during the fete. We will also have freshly-baked scones with jam and cream, and cups of tea available for purchase. Megamania will have their own stall selling fairy floss and snow cones, with 25% of the sales from this stand donated to the school. Finally, Sprocket coffee will be on site from 2pm with their converted Jeep Defender. Grab yourself a coffee from one of Sprocket’s expert baristas! Sprocket will donate 10% of their takings on the day to our fundraising.

RIDES Last minute pre-orders for Megamania wristbands are still available, for $25 per child. Please complete the form attached to this newsletter and return it to the office with the correct money. Please note that online POP payments are not accepted as this is a P&C event. Pre-orders must be in by tomorrow (Wednesday 24th October) at the very latest. Wristbands will be available on the day of the fete at a cost of $30 per child. Single ride tickets will also be available on the day for $5 a ride or 6 rides for $25. On-the-day purchase of ride tickets may be purchased from the Megamania ticket booth. The pre-ordered wristbands will be distributed during class time just prior to the fete to ensure children can maximise the time spent on the rides. Any pre-ordered wristbands that are not handed out in class (e.g. for younger siblings or friends from out of school) will be available for pickup from the P&C information desk at the fete.
