LoadCentre KQ distribution boards- BenefitsSafety■ IP2X factory fitted busbar assembly with non removable

insulating barriers. Provides protection against accidental directcontact. This is particularly useful if work such as testing andcommissioning is required on an energised enclosure.

■ Neutral terminal bar cover provides additional shielding of liveparts. This is secured by screw fixing to prevent accidentaldisturbance and maintain safety levels.

■ Assured system integrity throughout the life of the installation.Only Square D KQ devices fit Loadcentre KQ distributionboards. Systems remain as originally designed.

■ All boards are third party tested to the latest national andinternational standards.

High Performance■ Two frame sizes 125A B boards and 250A B boards with up to

72 outgoing SP ways. Loadcentre KQ is designed to cater forthe most demanding of installations.

■ Boards accept 10kA MCB’s and RCBO’s.

■ Tested to 20/30kA conditional short circuit ratings.

■ Range of three and four pole incoming devices.

Easy Installation■ Plug on MCB and RCBO devices, 50% fewer connections to

make.

■ DIN plus device fixing system eliminates lateral movement ofdevices and subsequently makes it even easier to fit enclosure covers.

■ Split neutral and earth bars provide the facility to spread cablesevenly around the enclosure during installation. Furthermorewhen the installation is complete this facility makes it easier totrace cables.

■ Common enclosure sizes and a range of extension boxessimplify group mounting of boards.

■ Removable gland plates (one plain and one with knockouts)provide quick and safe cable entry without swarf entering theenclosure.

Discrimination is the co-ordination ofcircuit breakers such that when a faultoccurs in a network it is cleared by thebreaker immediately upstream of thefault. No breaker further upstreamoperates. Thus the number of circuitsaffected by the fault is minimised. In many cases full discrimination is

achieved up to the breaking capacity ofthe breaker disconnecting the fault. Thisis indicated by 'F' in the table below. Inother cases discrimination is achieved upto a lesser current as indicated below inamps.

Cascading chartCascading permits the installation of acircuit breaker having a breaking capacitylower than the prospective at its point ofinstallation. Standard Fluorescent type TFor circuits that supply fluorescent lamps, the protective device rating can be calculated on the basisof steady circuit current of each lamp and control gear.

The following table givesrecommended circuit breaker ratingsfor use in circuits with dischargelamps. Ratings are based on the timecurrent characteristic of KQ type Cand D circuit breakers.During start up of discharge lamps ,surge current may be in the orderof:-25 x circuit start current for the first3 milliseconds.7 x circuit start current for thefollowing 2 seconds.Circuits with long cable runs mayreduce the actual inrush current dueto voltage drop to a level which islower than the maximum of 25 xstart up current.

This could effect the choice of circuitbreaker rating used in circuits wherethe number of lamps exceed 3, areduced surge current factor istherefore applied.Consideration must be given to thenumber of lamp fittings used in eachcircuit as this may entail the use ofunusually large cable.Circuits with large numbers of lampfittings may cause someinconvenience in the event of a fault,as due regard for safety in theworking environment must beconsidered in the event of thelighting being extinguished.
