We were delighted to meet with our 2021 Kinder students and their Mums last Wednesday. The girls had a great time together, learning about the Rainbow Fish. They really didn’t want to leave. We welcome them back for more visits each Wednesday morning for the next three weeks. Last week we celebrated NAIDOC week with a host of activities to support cultural awareness. Monday saw students engage in rotating activities that crossed over a range of curriculum areas all enhanced with an Aboriginal perspective. We also took some time to pause and be silent to commemorate Remembrance Day. Our school captain, Wyatt, led us through a brief assembly to commemorate this occasion. He was joined by our year 5 students who read a relevant poem. We are looking forward to the commencement of swimming next week, with all students involved regardless of their swimming ability. This year there will be no cost as the Krambach Pub bus has been kindly donated for use as a shuttle over the two-week period. Presentation Day is in the planning. At this stage, Covid guidelines allow parents to attend with conditions, of course. This will be on Wednesday 9 th December at 10.00am. More information to follow. Have a great week! Toni Johnson

WATER BOTTLES Due to current Department of Education Covid guidelines, our bubblers are still unable to be

used. This means that EVERY child needs their own water bottle. Students not bringing water bottles of late has become problematic. PLEASE ensure

your child has a drink bottle EVERY day!!! They can be refilled throughout the day using our water

dispensers that are in each classroom. Remember that Water Whizzy says not to use single use

plastic bottles and especially DO NOT reuse them!

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Week 4 PBL lesson was about being Oskar Berry was our reward recipient for week 4. Due to Naidoc week and the excursion we didn’t give out an award for PBL in week 5. Congratulations Oskar, keep up the great work!

SCHOOL HATS We are still having many students coming to school with no hat. Please ensure your child has a hat every day so they can enjoy their play in the sunshine instead of under the cover as the weather is warming up. This has continued to be a problem. It is far too hot now for students to be outside without a hat. We are also not encouraging the use of ‘spare’ hats. We don’t want to be wasting learning time searching for hats. Please work with us on this and make sure that your child has a hat EVERYDAY! The replacement cost of a hat is only $12. Please let Shirley know if you need one.

YEAR SIX SHIRTS Year six received their shirts this week. They were very excited and proud to wear them, even with the little error on them. Glad they have a great sense of humour!

Saltwater Excursion Krambach students celebrated NAIDOC week 8-15 Nov. The theme this year being ‘Always Was, Always Will be! We are so thankful to the teachers and students from Chatham High who led our cultural emersion excursion at Saltwater. We watched, learnt and performed dances. Sang and spoke ‘Gathang’ our local Aboriginal dialect. We participated in weaving, painting, beading and sport activities run by the students and teachers. Thanks also to Jeremy who taught us about animals and uses for different plants on our bush walk to the lookout. At school we continued to celebrate with cooking, art, dreamtime stories, indigenous games and crafts such as bracelet making. Although NAIDOC celebrations are over we continue to include Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island perspectives in our learning.

Johnny Cakes K-6 enjoyed making “Johnny Cakes’ following Uncle Ronny’s instructions to make these well loved Indigenous cakes. Many students chose to add butter and golden syrup on top making then taste ‘like a pancake’.

SCHOOL SWIMMING and WATER SAFETY PROGRAM

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

Arrangements have been made to include a learn to swim program in our school curriculum this term.

The Department of Education School Swimming and Water Safety Program is an intensive learn to swim program, which develops water confidence and provides students with basic skills in water safety and survival. The Program is conducted over ten days. Each daily lesson is approximately 45 minutes.

Students who have not reached a satisfactory standard of water safety and survival skills, and are unable to swim 25m confidently unaided with correct technique in deep water, are eligible to participate in the School Swimming and Water Safety Program. The Program is open to public schools students in Years K to 6; students enrolled at Schools for Specific Purposes in Years K to 6; and students enrolled at Intensive English Centres.

Instruction will take place at Krambach Community Pool.

The Program will continue daily for two weeks from Monday 23rd November (Week 7) to Friday 4th December (Week 8) between 11.45-2. There will be no charge for instruction.

Each child should bring a swimming costume, towel, hat all in a labelled, water proof bag. As the instruction takes place in an outdoor pool, it is recommended that students use adequate sun protection, eg. an SPF 30+ broad spectrum, water-resistant sun screen reapplied regularly; a rash shirt is also recommended.

Students will be assessed during the School Swimming and Water Safety Program for all water safety skills without wearing goggles.

Please complete and sign the form below and return it to your child's class teacher.
