STATED ALLOWANCE AND UNIT PRICES
The following items of work are anticipated during construction of this contract; however the
exact quantity of each work item may not be determinable prior to bidding. The Contractor,
shall therefore, include in his Lump Sum Base and / or Alternates Bid (as applicable), an
allowance for the following items in the quantities indicated: Allowance Unit Prices include all
charges for labor, materials and equipment, shoring, layout, supervision (field and home office),
general expenses, taxes, insurances, overhead and profit, but not limited to, for accomplishment
of the Allowance item(s). Where quantities of same items of work are defined and are quantified
in the bid documents, the allowance quantities indicated hereinafter shall be in addition to those
which are indicated. (Example: If the site grading plan indicates new and existing grades, the
bidder shall compute the quantity of earthwork required and include that quantity of work in the
bid the same as if no “allowance quantity were specified. If an additional allowance quantity of
earthwork is stipulated, that stipulated allowance quantity of work shall also be included in
addition to the quantity computed from the bidders earthwork “takeoff”).
The following Unit Prices Quoted are for increases or decreases in the above quantities included
in the Lump Sum Base and/or Alternate Bids. These Unit Prices include all charges for labor,
materials and equipment, fee, layout, supervision (field and home office), general expenses,
taxes, insurances, overhead and profit, but not limited to, for accomplishment of the Unit Price
item(s).
Clarification Note: The Unit Prices quoted by the Contractor shall apply to increases
(additive change orders) and to decreases (deductive change orders). This requirement
shall supplement the requirements of the General Conditions, and Instructions to Bidders.
Changes in the contract amount which are computed using the Stated Allowances and
Unit Prices shall be figured at the same unit price whether additive or deductive.

60 Calendar days of the dated stated in the Notice to Proceed.

011000-2 Summary
1.02 CONTRACT DESCRIPTION
A. Contract Type: A single Prime contract based on a stipulated Price as described in Document
ABC Form C-5 Construction Contract (section 00 0500 of Table of Contents).
1.03 OWNER OCCUPANCY
A. Owner intends to continue to Occupy adjacent portions of the existing building during the
entire construction period.
B. Owner intends to occupy the Project upon Substantial Completion.
C. Cooperate with Owner to minimize conflict and to facilitate Owner’s operations.
D. Schedule the Work to accommodate Owner occupancy.
1.04 CONTRACTOR USE OF SITE AND PREMISES
A. Construction Operations: Limited to areas noted on Drawings.
B. Provide Access to and from site as required by Law and by Owner:
1. Emergency Building Exits During Construction: Keep all exits required by code open
during construction period; provided temporary exit signs if exit routes are
temporarily altered.
2. Do not obstruct roadways, sidewalks, or other public ways without permit.
C. Existing building may not be used for storage.
D. Time restrictions: As outlined in Owner’s published Design and Construction Standards.
E. Utility Outages and Shutdown: As outlined in Owner’s procedures for these activities.
1. Limit disruption of utility services to hours the building is unoccupied.
2. Do not disrupt or shut down life safety systems, including but not limited to fire
sprinklers and fire alarm system, without 7 days’ notice to Owner and authorities
having jurisdiction.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 PAVED AREA HEADERS
A. ABS Sewer Pipe and Fittings: ASTM D 2751. 1. Solvent Cement: ASTM D 2235. 2. Gaskets: ASTM F 477, elastomeric seal.
B. PE Pipe and Fittings: AASHTO M 294, Type S, corrugated, with smooth waterway, for coupled joints. 1. Couplings: AASHTO M 294, corrugated, band type, matching tubing and fittings.
2.2 LOCATE WIRE
A. #12 green sheathed solid copper wire installed above top of pipe 1’ from top of grade. Locate wire to terminate 3 feet inside manhole or grate inlet at pipe junction. Extra wire to be coiled in 8 inch diameter coils and be tied off to structure steps.
2.3 DRAINAGE PIPES AND FITTINGS
A. Perforated, PE Pipe and Fittings: ASTM F 667, corrugated, for coupled joints. 1. Couplings: Manufacturer's standard, band type.
2.4 SPECIAL PIPE COUPLINGS
A. Description: ASTM C 1173. Rubber or elastomeric sleeve and band assembly fabricated to match outside diameters of pipes to be joined.
2.5 DRAINAGE CONDUIT
A. Pipe and Fittings: Perforated and corrugated, molded from HDPE complying with ASTM D 3350, with fittings and geotextile filter fabric jacket.
1. Size: 12 inches (305 mm) high by approximately 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick with a minimum flow rate of 30 gpm per foot (62 L/s per 1000 mm).
2. Size: 18 inches (457 mm) high by approximately 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick with a minimum flow rate of 45 gpm per foot (93 L/s per 1000 mm) when tested according to ASTM D 4716.
3. Fittings: HDPE with combination NPS 4 and NPS 6 (DN 100 and DN 150) outlet connection.
4. Couplings: Corrugated HDPE band.

B. Pipe and Fittings: Perforated, molded from HDPE complying with ASTM D 1248 into shape of interconnected corrugated pipes, with fittings and geotextile filter fabric jacket. 1. Size: 6 inches (152 mm) high by approximately 1-1/4 inches (31 mm) thick with
a flow rate of 15 gpm per foot (3.1 L/s per 1000 mm) when tested according to ASTM D 4716.
2. Size: 12 inches (305 mm) high by approximately 2-1/2 inches (64 mm) thick with a flow rate of 30 gpm per foot (6.2 L/s per 1000 mm) when tested according to ASTM D 4716.
3. Size: 18 inches (457 mm) high by approximately 3-3/4 inches (95 mm) thick with a flow rate of 45 gpm per foot (9.3 L/s per 1000 mm) when tested according to ASTM D 4716.
4. Fittings: HDPE with combination NPS 4 and NPS 6 (DN 100 and DN 150) outlet connection.
5. Couplings: HDPE.
C. Pipe and Fittings: Perforated, smooth PVC complying with ASTM D 4216 and ASTM D 2729. 1. Size: 6 inches high by approximately 2-1/4 inches thick with a minimum flow rate
equal to NPS 4 (DN 100) pipe. 2. Fittings: PVC with NPS 4 (DN 100) outlet connection. 3. Couplings: PVC.
2.6 SOIL MATERIALS
A. Filter material: Slag, gravel or crushed stone meeting ALDOT gradations for sizes 67, 78, 710.
2.7 GEOTEXTILE FILTER FABRICS
A. Geotextile filter fabric shall meet the requirements of AASHTO M288 for separation applications.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine surfaces and areas for suitable conditions where sub-drainage systems are to be installed.
B. If sub-drainage is required for landscaping, locate and mark existing utilities, underground structures, and aboveground obstructions before beginning installation and avoid disruption and damage of services.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2 EARTHWORK
A. Excavating, trenching, and backfilling are specified in Division 31 Section "Earthwork."
3.3 SUBDRAINAGE SYSTEM APPLICATIONS
A. NPS 12 (DN 300) Piping: 1. ABS pipe and fittings, couplings, and coupled joints. 2. PE drainage tubing and fittings, couplings, and coupled joints.
3.4 IDENTIFICATION
A. Materials and their installation are specified in Division 2 Section "Earthwork." Arrange for installation of green warning tapes directly over piping. 1. Install warning tape or detectable warning tape over ferrous piping. 2. Install detectable warning tape over nonferrous piping and over edges of
underground structures.
3.5 PAVED AREA DRAINAGE INSTALLATION
A. Excavate for paved area drainage system after subgrade material has been compacted, but before aggregate base coarse has been placed. Include horizontal distance of at least 6 inches between drainage pipe and trench walls. Grade bottom of trench excavations to required slope and compact to firm, solid bed for drainage system.
B. Filter Material: Place supporting layer of drainage fill over compacted subgrade to compacted depth of not less than 4 inches. After installing drainage piping, add filter material to top of pipe to perform tests. After satisfactory testing, cover piping with filter material to elevation of bottom of slab and compact filter material. 1. Before installing filter material, lay flat-style geotextile filter fabric in trench and
overlap trench sides. After installing filter material, wrap top of filter material with flat-style geotextile filter fabric.
3.6 LANDSCAPING DRAINAGE INSTALLATION
A. Install drainage pipe with a horizontal distance of at least 6 inches between pipe and trench walls. Grade bottom of trench excavations to required slope and compact to firm, solid bed for drainage system.
B. Filter material: Place supporting layer of filter material over trench bottom to compacted depth of not less than 4 inches. After installing drainage piping, add filter material to top of pipe to perform tests. After satisfactory testing, cover piping to within 12 inches of finish grade. Place filter material in layers not exceeding 3 inches in loose depth; compact each layer placed.

1. Before installing filter material, lay flat-style geotextile filter fabric in trench and overlap trench sides. After installing filter material, wrap top of filter material with flat-style geotextile filter fabric.
C. Drainage Conduit: Provide trench width to allow installation of drainage conduit. Grade bottom of trench excavations to required slope and compact to firm, solid bed for drainage system.
D. Fill to Grade: Place native fill material over drainage fill. Place material in loose-depth layers not exceeding 6 inches. Thoroughly compact each layer. Fill to finish grade.
3.7 PIPING INSTALLATION
A. Install piping beginning at low points of system, true to grades and alignment indicated, with unbroken continuity of invert. Bed piping with full bearing in filtering material. Install gaskets, seals, sleeves, and couplings according to manufacturer's written instructions and other requirements indicated.
1. Paved Area Sub-drainage: Install piping pitched down in direction of flow, at a minimum slope of 0.5 percent.
2. Landscaping Sub-drainage: Install piping pitched down in direction of flow, at a minimum slope of 0.5 percent and with a minimum cover of 36 inches, unless otherwise indicated.
3. Lay perforated pipe with perforations down.
B. Use increasers, reducers, and couplings made for different sizes or materials of pipes and fittings being connected. Reduction of pipe size in direction of flow is prohibited.
C. Install PE piping according to ASTM D 2321.
D. Install PVC piping according to ASTM D 2321.
3.8 PIPE JOINT CONSTRUCTION
A. Join perforated, PE pipe and fittings with couplings for soil tight joints according to AASHTO's "Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges," Division II, Section 26.4.2.4, "Joint Properties"; or according to ASTM D 2321.
B. Special Pipe Couplings: Join piping made of different materials and dimensions with special couplings made for this application. Use couplings that are compatible with and that fit both pipe materials and dimensions.
3.9 CONNECTIONS
A. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties.

B. Connect outfalls of sub-drainage system to storm drainage system.
3.10 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A. Testing: After installing drainage fill to top of pipe, test drain piping with water to ensure free flow before backfilling. Remove obstructions, replace damaged components, and repeat test until results are satisfactory.
3.11 UNDERGROUND WARNING TAPE
A. All new storm sewer laterals and mains shall include underground warning tape placed 1’ above pipe during pipe backfill operations. Warning tape shall be non-conductive Poly 3” wide 4 mils thick with 1” lettering. Warning tape shall conform to APWA uniform color codes and shall read “BURIED SEWER LINE”.
3.12 CLEANING
A. Clear interior of installed piping and structures of dirt and other superfluous material as work progresses. Maintain swab or drag in piping and pull past each joint as it is completed. Place plugs in ends of uncompleted pipe at end of each day or when work stops.

Project Name: Facilities Mgmt Complex - Parking Lot Expansion & Safety Improvements Project Number: 15-358 Bid Opening Date and Time: Tuesday, May 3rd, 3:00PM CST Bid Opening Location: Facilities Management – Building 7 Conference Room ATTENDEES: Circulate Sign-in Sheet; copies available at conclusion of meeting and will be distributed with Addendum No. 1.

II. Project Safety Overview
a. Auburn University considers safety to be a high priority on Design & Construction projects. This will be evident through our demonstrated focus and attention to safety through many avenues such as:
i. Prequalification ii. Contract requirements iii. Pre-construction meeting iv. Project meetings v. Architect, CM, and AU Representative’s focus and requirements vi. Contractor’s written requirements regarding submittals, processes, and/or
procedures demonstrating that they are complying in full with OSHA and AU Safety Specification requirements.
b. It is the Contractor’s inherent, important, and sole responsibility to be certain that they comply with the AU Safety Specification and ALL applicable OSHA standards in every case. This compliance shall be demonstrated to the Architect, Construction Manager (if applicable), and AU Construction Representative as required by the AU Safety Specification and OSHA or in such a way that this compliance is evident (in writing).
c. Competent Person – Per the AU Safety Specification and OSHA requirements, Contractor shall maintain a “Competent” person(s) at the Project Site at all times this particular activity is underway. Contractor shall inform Architect, Construction Manager (if applicable), and AU Construction Representative as to the identity of this (these) individual(s). This shall be kept current at all times.
d. Refer to and review ALL attachments to the Construction Contract – Health and Safety.
e. The apparent low bidding contractor(s) will have 10 days from the date of notification that they are the low bidder to submit a site specific safety plan as noted in the project manual.
Schedule Control: Discuss time of completion in meeting Time of completion is to be corrected in Addendum 1 as 90 days.
