Krill oil is obtained from Euphausia superba, a small crustacean that resembles shrimp. Krill is rich in Essential Fatty Acids, especially omega 3 fatty acids- eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It also contains the powerful antioxidant carotenoid astaxanthin. It helps prevent oxidation of the omega 3 fatty acids providing anti-inflammatory protection.
