Title : Introduction of High Value Crop – Kharif Onion
Theme – Crop Diversification
Back Ground Information
Krishi vigyan kendra , Datia had identified the problem of lower croppingintensity due to more than 60 % fellow during kharif season in Datia district.Scientists of KVK also correlated the problem with lower income of small andmarginal farmers (About 72%). Farmers of district usually practiced onioncultivation during Rabi season yet, they could not get better monetary return dueto inefficient storage and lower prices during the harvest stage of crop.
To uplift the poor farmers and to increase the cropping intensity withintroduction a cash crop during kharif season especially in light soils under rain fedagro eco system, KVK had started with extension activities, training and on farmtrials on kharif onion.
Results of On Farm trials were very much encouraging and with tirelessefforts of KVK farmers of different villages were going to adopt the newtechnology.

Title : RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF SOYBEAN
Back Ground InformationDatia district is comes under Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh.
District has experienced continuous drought or lower and indiscriminate rainfall
pattern during the previous ten years, due to lower and irregular pattern of rainfall
traditionally practiced medium late soybean variety JS-335 not yielded economically.
Declined trend in area was observed in district from 2000-01 (2000 ha) up to 2007-08
(417 ha) due to adoption of long duration variety (JS-335) which was not able to escape
early with-drawl of monsoon, heavy incidence of girdle beetle and weeds.
Looking over the soybean scenario Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Datia had analysis
the problem on the basis of Survey, Group Discussion and district statistical data.
After identify the problem of moisture stress during milk filling and late maturity crop
stage due to unavailability of rains because of early cessation of monsoon . Krishi
Vigyan Kendra, Datia had introduced the extra early variety JS 95-60 of soybean toresolve the problem.
