Kristen Erickson Kristen Erickson is the Deputy Assistant Administrator for Communications Planning at NASA Headquarters. Previously, she was the acting Deputy Associate Administrator (Management) for the Office of Biological and Physical Research and the Executive Officer to Associate Deputy Administrator. Having started at the Johnson Space Center in 1983, she spent the majority of her career supporting the Space Shuttle Program in various business functions with the last position as Chief, Space Operations Resources. Ms. Erickson holds a BBA in Management from Texas A&M University and an MPA from Harvard University. G. Michael Green G. Michael Green is a Senior Manager for Strategic Communications Planning in NASA's Office of Communications Planning. Previously, he served as the Director for Strategic Communications in NASA's Aeronautics Mission Directorate and as the Acting Director for Informal Education in NASA's Office of Education. Green has also served as a senior planner in NASA's Office of Policy and Plans and as the Executive Director of the NASA Advisory Council, the agency's highest independent advisory body that reports to the NASA Administrator. Green came to NASA in 1990, after being selected as U.S. Presidential Management Intern. In addition to his NASA duties, Green was Director and Chief Spokesperson for the Brandy Station Foundation (BSF) from 1991 to 1998. The BSF led a national campaign to save the site of the largest cavalry battle of the American Civil War from commercial development. Green received a master's degree in political science from American University in 1990. He earned a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from Ball State University in 1988. His articles on space policy, baseball history, and historic preservation have appeared in numerous national newspapers and journals, including the Washington Post, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Chicago Sun-Times, Miami Herald, Washington Times, the journal Nine, the national baseball magazine 108 and the Space Times. Debbie Rivera Debbie Rivera is the Senior Manager of Strategic Alliances for the Office of Communications Planning. She also manages several Agency-wide initiatives: the Communications Material Review and the NASA Lecture Series. During her 25 years at NASA, she established and managed other new initiatives such as the NASA TV Video File and the Central Operations of Resource for Educators (CORE). Ms. Rivera served as the NASA Radio Producer, the Associate Producer of NASA TV, and as an Educational Specialist. Before Ms. Rivera began her NASA career as a Presidential Management Fellow, she worked five years in the private sector marketing products and services: advertising campaigns, computer systems and educational publications. She received a BSJ in Journalism and holds two master degrees: MPA in Public Administration and a MSW in Social Work. Ann Marie Trotta Ann Marie Trotta is the Program Manager for Outreach Coordination. She works closely with outreach professionals in the Mission Directorates and at the Centers to identify and provide the most effective outreach tools and messages available to share the importance, excitement, and value of NASA's missions and programs with external audiences. Prior to joining the Office of Communications Planning, she spent 2 1/2 years as policy analyst in the Office of the Director at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. From 1997-2004, she was a policy analyst in the Space Science Enterprise, specializing in Legislative Affairs. Prior to that, she held a similar position in the Office of Life and Microgravity Sciences. Ms. Trotta joined NASA Headquarters in 1983 as an intern from East Carolina University, where she graduated Outstanding Senior in Foreign Languages and Literatures with a Bachelor of Arts in French in 1984. Jim Hull Jim Hull manages NASA's exhibits and artifacts and works with the agency outreach team in the Office of Communications Planning. The team is responsible for development and implementation of agency communication strategies. He works closely with Exhibit Coordinators and Visitor Centers at each Center. He is also NASA's official Artifact Committee liaison with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, managing the transfer of artifacts into the National collection. Prior to joining NASA, he worked for twenty years in private industry in design and production of custom exhibits for the government, corporations and museums. His academic background includes a B.S. Business Administration, University of Richmond, and graduate work at the Thunderbird Graduate School for International Management. Nora Normandy Nora Normandy manages the NASA speakers bureau program and works with agency outreach programs. She is involved in the design and implementation of agency communication strategies and facilitates projects involving multiple components of the NASA community. She also works closely with the agency's informal education community working with museums, science centers and other organziations to find ways to share the excitement of NASA's programs and missions. Her academic background includes a B.S in Biology, an M.B.A. and experience in public communication and organziational development. Christine Peterson Christine Peterson is the Executive Assistant for NASA's Office of Communications Planning. Peterson also assists the Chief of Strategic Communications at Headquarters. Prior to this position, Peterson was the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Administrator of NASA, Shana Dale. Prior to her career at NASA, Peterson managed several upscale catering companies throughout the Washington metro area. Her educational background includes 3 yrs. of undergraduate study at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA - currently finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD in Government and Politics/East Asian studies minor, May 2008. Peterson was a state level gymnast in Virginia and holds a 3rd Degree Black belt in Shorin-ken karate. She made the National AAU Karate team several years in a row and the USA World Team. Erika Vick Erika Vick is a Program Specialist for Communications Planning. In support of the Office of Strategic Communications, Erika creates and promotes effective communications tools for the Agency using information technology resources for the purpose of increasing public awareness of and support for NASA's missions. She is now interested in employing virtual worlds for outreach, education, and engagement purposes. Given NASA's relatively recent interest in using this medium for communication purposes, she is pursuing relationships with other government agencies to leverage resources in order to maximize the potential this technology has to offer. After 15 years as an Aerospace Engineer working flight schedules and scientific research requirements for the Space Shuttle Program at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Ms. Vick joined the Office of Education at NASA HQ where she served as the Education Flight Projects Officer responsible for providing students with education flight opportunities on NASA research platforms. She was also instrumental working to incorporate more than 100 NASA-related articles and content into the Pearson Education Scott Foresman Science 2007 textbook series for elementary schools. She has been recognized on numerous occasions for her support of the Human Space Flight Program and NASA Education and Outreach initiatives. Ms. Vick received her degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas - Austin in 1985 and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Houston in 1993. Maureen Ryan O'Brien Maureen Ryan O'Brien is the Executive Secretary for the Communications Coordinating Committee (CCC), which is chaired by the Chief of Strategic Communications and supported by the Office of Communications Planning (OCP). In this capacity, Maureen supports the work of the Agency-wide CCC and its working groups, manages communication and plans quarterly meetings of the CCC. Maureen's professional background includes 17 years of service in strategic communications in the Washington, D.C. area, primarily in the area of government affairs. Maureen spent 5 years at the Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) Policy as Assistant to the Director for Legislative Affairs and as Executive Assistant for Policy and Intergovernmental Affairs. Prior to joining OSTP, Maureen was employed by SPACEHAB, Inc. as their chief government affairs officer. Prior to her service at SPACEHAB, Maureen spent a decade performing government affairs and communications services for various aerospace and defense clients, including the Space Station Associates, a coalition of industry International Space Station contractors.
