KTM Pressure Independent Control Valveby FLOW DESIGN
Pressure IndependentTemperature Control Valvewith Adjustable Maximum Flowfor Variable Flow Systems
The KTM from FDI is a pressure independent flow and
temperature control valve, especially for use on chilled or
hot water coils in fan coil units, air handlers, variable flow
systems and similar applications where accurate control of
flow and temperature is required. The KTM valve combines
a balancing valve, control valve and differential pressure
regulator in one body, reducing field connections and labor
time. The KTM valve is designed to provide peace of mind
by ensuring noise-free operation and automatically regulated
flow for a fluctuation-free coil environment. The convenience
to set the maximum flow manually gives the installer freedom
from measurement and calculations for adjusted flow.
Adapters for most linear actuators are available.
The KTM is ideal when
requirements include precise
and accurate temperature
control, variable load
balancing, hydraulic
independence, or future
expansion possibilities.
The KTM offers the perfect
combination of functionality,
reliability, size and value.
FEATURES
1. Combines three essential functions in one valve: Balancing, control and differential pressure regulation.
2. Mechanism to manually limit the flow and also control the flow with the actuator.
3. Differential pressure regulator maintains a constant differential pressure across the control surface regardless of differential pressure variations in the system up to 230 psi.
4. The conical plug ensures equal percentage characteristics (EQM) at full flow.
5. The KTM valve requires a very small pressure drop to operate.
6. Flow control accuracy within ±5%.
• Eliminates the need for multiple components, reducing connections, total product and laborcosts. Robust inline design saves space.
• Eliminates the need for Cv calculations andsizing. Gives the user the flexibility to selectthe valve with the required max flow/tonnageand allow the actuator to modulate the flow.
• Pressure variations in the system will notaffect the flow.
• Ensures that circuits are independent of eachother, allowing easier commissioning andmaking the system modular to accommodatefuture expansions.
• Ensures that there is desired flow at allconditions, enabling faster startup, savingpump head and reducing energy costs.
• Control valve authority close to one, regardless of load, provides greater overallcontrol performance while reducing pumphead and pumping costs.
• Most of the pressure drop takes place in theregulating chamber, the control valve seessmaller pressure drops, and the valves aremuch quieter- reducing tenant complaints.
• EQM characteristics means that the valvematches the characteristics of the heatexchanger or the cooling coil, so heat transferis proportional to the control signal, givingaccurate control.
• The efficient valve design makes the requiredpressure drop for valve operation very small, helping to reduce pump head and energyusage.
• The KTM delivers precise temperature control, increased comfort and energy savings.
