Batu Grace Children Home

Background and activities Batu Grace Ashram

Batu Grace Ashram is a non-profitable organization specially established to look into the needs of approximately 70 children without a safe and caring home. Most of children are from dysfunctional, broker and poverty stricken homes. The children age from 1 untill 18.

The organization facilitates the children a life with proper facilities enriched with human values and with a mission to ensure will be able to live an independent life once they are adults. Simply said, Batu Grace Ashram provides good nutrition, health, and medical care in a clean hygienic envirionment in which the children can live and grow. In addition, the NGO pays for school.

In addition of the education the children receive at their regular school, Batu Grace Ashram wants to provide their children with additional education and care. Depending on the period, 3-5 EPs will provide this additional education to 50 children between 6 and 14 in the following topics: • English (Monday & Thursday) • Maths (Tuesday) • Science (Wednesday) The classes will be given in the late afternoon after the regular schooling. The morning is free and the early afternoon will be used to prepare the classes. The children will make an exam on Friday about the topics taught during the week.

Furthermore, the EPs are expected to organize activities which stimulate cultural understanding, social skills, and motor skills. Outside of working, the EPs will spend their time with the children at the NGO.

Timeline of the project

• The project is available from May until December

• The project is last for 6 weeks • EPs will only need to work during

every weekday afternoon, but will spend time with the kids 24/7

• Saturday and Sunday is non-working days

Accomodation

• At the NGO together with the kids (Taman Desa Aman, 09400 Karangan, Kedah, Malaysia)

• EPs will be staying at the NGOs, together with the family of the founder and the childrens.

• Living together with international EPs (3-5 EPs depending on the time of the year) but separated in different room according to gender.

Overview area

The NGO is located in a rural area. The nearest town is Kulim. It takes a busride of 30 minutes to get to Kulim.

City Tour • Guide EPs to some place to relax their
