OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN A TECHNICAL, CREATIVE OR BUSINESS ROLE ARTIST STATEMENT "This year for Spencer High School’s Fall production The Hunchback of Notre Dame I was the Publicity Crew Head. The Theatre Department went through many changes this past school year and students were given more opportunities for leadership positions and creativity. Therefore, as Publicity Crew Head, I had the opportunity to start from scratch and redefine the crew. Among many other things I implemented new creative ideas to promote the show and created promotional videos to draw attention to the show. One of these was a series called In Hunchback, highlighting backstage crew work. My crew and I also organized an event called The Hunchback Movie Event. This was a showing of the original Disney animated film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, to expose the community to the musical and get them thinking about our fall production and its music and themes. While serving as Crew Head I cultivated many skills that will be important to my future; working with the community, working with peers, marketing, organizing events, general organization and leadership skills, just to name a few. As a future BFA theatre major and film studies minor at Nebraska Wesleyan University, I found the Publicity Crew Head position to be a great way for me to blend my love of the stage with my passion for film."
