Mommy: KYLE! KYYYYLE! It’s past your bedtime, please come into the house sweetie.
Kyle yells back: Mom! Give me ten more minutes please! I want to watch the moon rise!
Mommy: Alright Alright, let me grab a blanket its freezing out here!As Mom comes out with a blanket Kyle sneaks up to sit with her on the back porchKyle: BOO!Mommy: Oh Kyle you scared me!Kyle: hahaha sorry mom! mom? why do I always have to go to bed so early?Mom: Kyle sweetie you are still little and you need to sleepKyle: But mom I hate missing all the fun stuff! Paige and Joanna get to stay up until 10pm!Mom: Kyle, Paige and Joanna
Mom: Kyle, Paige and Joanna are much older than you, your sisters are older so they get to stay up a little later than you do.Kyle: I really think thats unfair, sleeping is pointless!Mom: Kyle, sleeping is one of the most important parts of your day! Did you know when you sleep, you grow!?Kyle: What?!? I didnt know that, why do you grow?Mom: Yes like a tree!
Mom: Well when you are little sleeping is a way for your body to get bigger and stronger.Kyle: What else can sleep do?
Mom: Well when you sleep your body gets well rested so the next day you might run faster, climb farther and think faster! But you can only do these things when you get the right amount of sleep.
Kyle: Well how much sleep should we get? If I slept the whole day would I be the fastest in my class?Mom: haha! Oh no sweetie it doesn’t work like that. Since you are 5 years old the recommended number of hours of sleep is between 8 and 10 hours.Kyle: Oh my gosh thats a long time!Mommy: Well when you and your sisters were babies you slept for 15-16 hours throughout the day!Kyle: I slept for 16 hours! Thats not very fun.Mommy: Well babies need there sleep because they are still growing and developinginto little people.
Kyle: So if I go to sleep now, and I sleep for 10 hours my body will get stronger andsmarter.Mommy: hahah yes Kyle, hey look the moon is up!Kyle: ITS A FULL MOON! Looks like the moon got a good nights sleep too.Mommy: Hey you’re right! It looks bigger and stronger than last night
Kyle: Okay mom I am going to go get stronger and grow now.Mommy: What?Kyle: Moooom, Im going to bed!Mommy: hahaha Oh okay sweetie
*Mommy and Kyle get up to walk into the house and down to his room, Kyle seesJoanna*Kyle: Hey JU JU!Joanna: What Ky?Kyle: You have a big test tomorrow so you should probably go to bed soon so you canget smarter.Joanna: Oh I should? *Mom and Kyle enter his room as he jumps under his covers*Kyle: Thanks mom (with a smile)Mommy: For what honey?Kyle: For giving me the secret weapon on how to beat Darby in the race tomorrow, I know for a fact he stays up late watching tv!
