1. About This Guide This user guide describes the operation procedure of the application software “KYOCERA Ink Calculator” that is to calculate the printing cost from the ink consumption of “TASKalfa Pro 15000c”.

4. Preface “KYOCERA Ink Calculator” is set so that the printing cost calculation accuracy is within ±10% when printing under the following conditions. The error may increase depending on the print settings and the document.

-Print settings : PDF directprint , Full color , Fit to paper size

Cassette feeding -Paper size : A4 side -Paper type : Plain paper -Print resolution : 600dpi × 600dpi -Print data : ISO24712（ 5-pages) -Copies : 2000copies (Total pages : 10000pages)

5. Preparation before useInstall "KYOCERA Ink Calculator" on PC

1. Unzip the “KD_Ink_Calculator.zip” file.- Please save the folder after decompression on the desktop.- There are the following files in the folder.

“KyoceraInkCalculatorSetup_#.#.#.#.exe” “Kyocera_Ink_Calculator_Manual_EN_#.#.pdf”

2. Install "KYOCERA Ink Calculator" on PC- Select and execute “KyoceraInkCalculatorSetup_#.#.#.#.exe” in the folder.

3. Install according to the setup guidance.- Select language to install

Select a language and click "OK"

- Check the license agreement.You need to accept the agreement to install, Check the "I accept the greement" and click "Next".

- Specify the installation destination.Specify the installation destination and click “Next”.

- InstallationConfirm the dialog box “Ready to Install” before installation. If there is no problem, click “Install”.

- Installation will startCheck the message “Completing KYOCERA Ink Calculator Setup Wizard” and click “Finish”. Then the setup wizard dialog box closes.

- Verify installationWhen the installation is completed successfully, the following shortcut icon will appear on the PC desktop.

4. Run “KYOCERA Ink Calculator”Double-click the icon to start “KYOCERA Ink Calculator”.

Ink usage includes the following ink usage in addition to the ink usage for the print file. Other ink consumption are not included.

- Ink used for paper discharge In-paper discharge : In order to maintain ink ejection performance,this

machine is equipped with a mode for forcibly ejecting ink into the paper that prevents ink drying and ink viscosity increase. A small amount of ink is used when the ink discharge setting is other than “Off” in “U736 Set Waste Paper”. Please contact the technician for “U736 Set Waste Paper”.

- Inks used in waste paper Wast Paper : This paper is output for image adjustment during printing to

maintain print quality. - Ink used for regular and automatic head cleaning during printing

6-2. Start “KYOCERA Ink Calculator” and initial settings.

Double-click the next shortcut icon on the desktop.

“KYOCERA Ink Calculator” starts.

6-2-1. Input initial settings. Click the setting icon ①.

The setting dialog box will open.

If you want to use ② in the system settings, please contact the technician.

6-2-2. Select the "Tool Mode". Select the printer driver to use from the pull-down ③. The modes that can be selected as follows.

6-2-3. Cost Setting Select the ink cost base from which to calculate the printing cost from the pull-down ④.

Ink Container : Cost per Ink-container Liter : Cost per liter

6-2-4. Select the currency symbol for the calculation result Select the currency symbol of the calculation result from the pull-down ⑤. In case of “Set by OS”, it follows the regional setting of the PC.

6-2-5. Enter the ink price to be used Enter the ink price for each color in ⑥ with “ - ” and “ + ”. Or enter the value directly.

This completes the initial setting. Select “OK” and “Cancel” from ⑦. The dialog box closes.

6-3. Calculation method of printing cost when using “Fiery (Printing System 50)”

Calculate the printing cost with a PDF file. PDF files with security settings are not supported.

6-3-1. Set the ink price in Fiery (Printing System 50) as follows.

- Right-click① from the following display.

- The following pop-up appears.

Select “Cost Estimation Settings…”②.

- The “Cost Estimation Settings” dialog box appears.

Select the currency symbol from the “Currency” pull-down list③. Select [Cyan], [Magenta], [Yellow], or [Black] and enter the price④. The ink price is cost per litter.

6-3-2. Calculation method of printing cost when using "Fiery (Printing System 50)". - Select the file for which you want to calculate printing costs.

- Select the file for calculating the printing cost from the list and check the “Job Status”⑤.

- To calculate the printing cost, check that “Job Status” is “Processed” or “Hold”. Select the file⑥ for printing cost calculation and right click.

- The following pop-up appears.

Select “Estimate Cost”⑦.

- Calculation of printing cost starts. Reselect the file⑧ for which the printing cost was calculated, and then right-click.

- The following pop-up appears. Select “Cost Estimation Details”⑨.

- The “Cost Estimation Details” dialog box appears. Make a note of the ink volume displayed⑩ in “Estimated Volume”.. Theses ink-volumes are used to calculate the printing cost using the “KYOCERA Ink Calculator”.

6-3-3. Enter the ink volume of “Estimated Volume” calculated by “Fiery (Printing System 50)” in “KYOCERA Ink Calculator. If "Fiery" is selected for "Tool Mod" in "6-2-1. Input initial settings", when “KYOCERA Ink Calculator” is started, the following will be displayed.

Input the ink volume of “Estimated Capacity” in “Job Information”⑪. Input “ - ” and “ + ” , or input the value directly.

6-3-4. Enter the number of copies to print and the total number of pages to be printed.

Input the number of pages of the job of the file whose ink volume is calculated in “Fiery” in ⑫ . Input the number of copies of the data file for calculating the printing cost in ⑬. If the file for calculating the printing cost set in "Fiery" is part of the actual print data, enter the total number of printed pages for one job for actual print in ⑭. I Input “ - ” and “ + ” , or input the value directly. The total number of printed pages is displayed in ⑮.

“Total number of print pages ⑮” = “Number of copies ⑬” x “Total number of pages per copy ⑭”

Input the same value for ⑫ and ⑬ as for Fiery.

6-3-5. Other settings Select Paper size⑯, Paper type⑰, Color mode⑱ and Resolution to print⑲. Please refer to “ 8. Specifications ” for paper size, paper type, and resolution type.

Select the print file for calculating the printing cost in ①. The selected print file is displayed in ② preview.

6-4-2. Enter the number of copies to print and the total number of pages to be printed. Enter the number of copies of the file for calculating the printing cost in ③. If the file for calculating the printing cost set in 7-4-1 is part of the actual print data, enter the total number of printed pages for one job for actual print in ④. Input “ - ” and “ + ” , or input the value directly. The total number of printed pages is displayed in ⑤.

Select Paper size⑥, Paper type⑦, Color mode⑧ and Resolution to print⑨. Please refer to “ 8. Specifications ” for paper size, paper type, and resolution type.

In color mode⑧, select “CMYK” or “Grayscale”.

6-4-4. Calculate the printing cost Click ”SUBMIT”⑩

Total printing cost⑪, used ink cost⑫, and ink volume⑬ are displayed.

Note : If the data capacity of the PDF file for calculating the cost is large, the cost

calculation time will be longer and the accuracy of the cost calculation may be reduced.In addition, the error display “Unable to get ink cost for file {File name}”may appear in the following locations. For details, see “7. Error message”.

7. Error message If the following error message appears at the following location, take action according to the corrective action. If the problem persists, please contact the technician.

-1. “Password protected .pdf files are not supported.” Cause : -This message appears when a password-protected PDF is loaded. Action : - Cancel the PDF password setting.

-2. “Not able to load the .pdf file.” Cause : -This message appears when the file cannot be opened except for

the password. Action : -Select a PDF file and print again.

If the error continues, the Kyocera Ink Calculator cannot calculate the cost.

-3. “Unable to get ink cost for file {File name}.” Cause : -This message appears when the calculation result cannot be

obtained for some reason. -This message appears when an unprintable file is detected.

(In case of the CID font is not embedded in the PDF.etc.) -This message appears if you cancel during the cost calculation.

Action : -If the calculation stops without pressing [Cancel] during cost calculation, click [Submit] and re-execute the calculation.

-If the cost calculation stops again, there are mixed files that cannot be printed. Therefore, the cost cannot be calculated with the “KYOCERA Ink Calculator”.

-4. “Cancled loading PDF file {File name}.”

Cause : -This message appears when you select a PDF file and cancel while preparing the preview.

Action : - Click Submit to run the cost calculation again.
