Dear Parents, Carers and Learners.

This will be our last newsletter, for the academic year 2019-20. As a learning

community we have all worked hard, together, to keep the learning going. The

challenge was a daunting one, laden with conflicting emotions and an obligation to

adapt to unimaginable change.

YOU SUCCEEDED. WE SUCCEEDED.

As a community. A united learning community.

Our online learning provision will continue for four weeks, starting from 27th

July. Completed work can be uploaded onto Google Classroom and teachers will

check it when possible, during the four week period.

Statutory Return to School – 3rd September 2020.

We are delighted that all children will return to Parkhill Junior School on Thursday 3rd

September 2020. Adjustments to school routines will be required, to accommodate a

safe and effective return to learning and to school life. A staggered start and finish to

the day will be necessary, during the first half term. We hope that it will be a temporary

arrangement.

Years 3 and 4 will start at the usual time of, 8:55am and finish at 3:30pm.

Year 3 will enter and exit via the double gates leading into the playground.

Year 4 will enter and exit via the double gates leading onto the field.

Years 5 and 6 will start at 9:15am and finish at 3:45pm.

Year 5 will enter and exit via the double gates leading into the playground.

Year 6 will enter and exit via the double gates leading onto the field.

Staff will be outside ready to welcome you back and will lead children to their

classroom. Equally, parents and carers can drop off/collect their child from the

playground/field but must remain in the marked designated area and wear a mask/face

covering.

PLEASE SEE THE MAPS AND PHOTOS ON PAGES 3 AND 4.

PE kits

Please do not send any PE kits into school during the first week (Thursday and Friday).

After the first week, PE kits should be brought to school every Monday and taken

home on Friday.

Lunchtime

Children should bring a packed lunch until advised otherwise. This is to reduce

movement around the school and crowding in the dining hall – which we share with

Parkhill Infants. If your child is entitled to free school meals, the kitchen will provide a

packed lunch, on request. Equally if you pay for school dinners, the kitchen will

provide a packed lunch, on request. Home dinners are not permitted until further

notice.

Curriculum

Also essential, will be adjustments to the curriculum offer for each year group, to

ensure that key learning points from the summer term 2020, are fully addressed. Rest

assured that work is well underway to meet this need fully. As professionals, that is our

core purpose.

Breakfast Club This will resume from, Monday 7th September, at 8:00am. A place at Breakfast Club

must be booked and paid for a week in advance. Please email the Admin account to

book a place. We will not be serving breakfast at this stage. While it is our intention

that after school clubs will resume from, Monday 28th September 2020, we will follow

the guidance given closer to the time. Further information will follow, early in the

autumn term.

Although this is not the jolly end to the school year that we have always enjoyed in the

past, everyone at Parkhill Junior School resoundingly wishes you a safe and enjoyable

summer holiday! We look forward to a fresh start in September and to working with

you once again.

Enjoy Learning!
