Meet our Parent/Guardian of the Month! March is Woman's History Month LEU NEWSLETTER David Glass is March's Parent of the Month! We are happy to announce that this month’s award goes to Mr. Glass! Mr. Glass had the pleasure of attending Leuzinger during the 70s. He says that although the school looks very different from back then, there was always an Olympian spirit. According to Mr. Glass, his favorite thing about this school when he was attending was the staff. The counselors and teachers knew him by a first name basis. This quality is something that he believes carries on until today. According to Mr. Glass, “the staff seems happy to come to work; many seem to actually love what they do.” He mentioned that among some of his favorite staff members are the security guards because not only do they work hard to keep things safe; they are always really friendly and welcoming. Mr. Glass is actively involved in his student’s success. He makes sure that he turns in assignments when he is absent, turns in notes on to excuse any days missing, and he also attends important parent meetings whenever it is possible. The great characteristic of Mr. Glass is that he is an amazingly friendly and caring person who brings a smile to the school, even throughout the hardest of times. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting him, make sure to congratulate him on his great work. Great Women to Honor During Woman's History Month: Malala Yousafzai On 9 October 2012, as Malala and her friends were travelling home from school, a masked gunman entered their school bus and asked for Malala by name. She was shot with a single bullet which went through her head, neck and shoulder. Two of her friends were also injured in the attack. Malala survived the initial attack, but was in a critical condition. She was moved to Birmingham in the United Kingdom for treatment at a hospital that specializes in military injuries. She was not discharged until January, 2013 by which time she had been joined by her family in the UK.The Taliban's attempt to kill Malala received worldwide condemnation and led to protests across Pakistan. In the weeks after the attack, over 2 million people signed a right to education petition, and the National Assembly swiftly ratified Pakistan's first Right To Free and Compulsory Education Bill. In 2013, Malala and Ziauddin co-founded the Malala Fund to bring awareness to the social and economic impact of girls' education and to empower girls to raise their voices, to unlock their potential and to demand change. For more information on Malala's incredible journey please visit her page at Malala Fund.  Great Women to Honor During Woman's History Month: Malala Yousafzai

On 9 October 2012, as Malala and her friends were travelling home from school, a masked

gunman entered their school bus and asked for Malala by name. She was shot with a single bullet

which went through her head, neck and shoulder. Two of her friends were also injured in the

attack. Malala survived the initial attack, but was in a critical condition. She was moved to

Birmingham in the United Kingdom for treatment at a hospital that specializes in military injuries.

She was not discharged until January, 2013 by which time she had been joined by her family in

the UK.The Taliban's attempt to kill Malala received worldwide condemnation and led to protests

across Pakistan. In the weeks after the attack, over 2 million people signed a right to education

petition, and the National Assembly swiftly ratified Pakistan's first Right To Free and Compulsory

Education Bill. In 2013, Malala and Ziauddin co-founded the Malala Fund to bring awareness to

Why is  Attendance so Important? Last semester alone Leuzinger lost more than $500,000 in funding due to student absences. Some students may think that the only reason administrators emphasize on the importance of attendance is "because of the money", but what they do not realize is that this money is what pays for the resources and programs that is made available to them. These funds pay from everything to new books and materials, to clean facilities. Aside from the funds that are lost, they lose on valuable instruction time. This time become sharder and harder to make up the more days the miss or show to class late. Please help not only our district, but your child succeed by making sure they get to school on time. Thank you!

Conozca algunas de las mujeres que han

hecho grandes contribuciones a la

sociedad

¡Gracias!
