Lorenden Online - Week 2
Lorenden Online - Picture by Tilly in Year 2
Whilst the weather has been pretty miserable outside we are pleased to see so many lovely photos of pupils enjoying their learning this week. I have been in school every day and it has been really good to see pupils working hard and taking well earned breaks together too. I hope you have received my email earlier today outlining clubs and Parents’ Evening information and hope you enjoy the photos below:
THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
Nursery
Winter Theme The children made mitten wreaths, mitten number lines and ‘rocking robins’ amongst other crafts this week! I love seeing all the photos on Google Classroom and the children also enjoy showing their wonderful crafts to me when on a ‘meet’. We played a game during our Wednesday group ‘meet’ with our mitten number line and even though I tried to trick the children by taking numbers away, they always guessed which one was missing! Well done, clever children! (Miss Wilton)
Reception
Fun with shapes
The children have learnt about repeating patterns this week. Clara has painted some beautiful art work too.
Year 1
Penguin week
Year 1 pupils have had a wonderful time, both at home and in school, making these wonderful penguins.
Year 2
The Gingerbread Sliders
Year 2 have been continuing their work on Fairy Tales. They have read the story of the Gingerbread Man and in DT made a slider to chase the Gingerbread man! Ada has made her own snow globes, Louis drew a picture of the Jack and the Beanstalk and used his slider to move the Giant up and down the beanstalk. Bella has made one of the three little pigs and Matilda has been very creative making a dress for her teddy.
Year 3
Depicting images of Jesus This week, the children in Year 3 have been starting to learn about images of Jesus. They looked at lots of different paintings and representations of Jesus, and then created their own pictures. These ones were drawn by Florence, Autumn, Joseph, Isabelle and Olivia.
Some quiet concentration! Joseph is working hard on his writing.
Year 4
Renoir Art These beautiful paintings, inspired by Renoir, were painted by Libby, Ethan and Emmeline.
French
Epiphany Imogen in Year 6 made the delicious la galette des Rois pastry which is made especially for Epiphany. Nursery learnt the song 'deux petits oiseaux'. Here is Mia with her petits oiseaux!
Forest School
Mini Beasts
Reception and Year 1 have had great fun creating their mini-beasts for Forest School. Daniel’s spider family enjoyed a whole day out camping and roasting marshmallows over an open fire! George, Felix and Harriet created wonderful beasts!
PE and Games
A Flying Start
Lilly-May in Year 3 has made a flying start to this year by taking up running! Well done Lilly-May!
Congratulations
Year 5 Litter Picking Congratulations to Saskia and Emilia who did their part of the (socially distanced!) sponsored litter pick organised by Year 5 on 3 January. They collected 3 bin bags of litter from the road outside their houses in 45 minutes, and have raised over £80 for the RSPCA. Well done to Rufus who has pledged to pick 20 bags of rubbish whilst out walking his dogs (he has completed this today!). If you would like to Sponsor our Year 5s in their Charity Litter pick you can go to Rufus’ just giving page:
