Leaves that can be used for leaf manipulation are:
Bergenia
Cordyline
Hedera
Astelia
Fatsia
Monstera
Rhapis
Palm - Howea (Kentia)
Palm – Phoenix (Date)
These are just some ideas of leaves that can be used for Leaf Manipulation – I am sure that you will think of others.
Coil and Shaping
Roll and tape looking like a tube
Wire and tape a leaf at the back so that you can bend the leaf
Make a small slit in a leaf and insert the tip of the leaf through the hole
Cut and role an Aspidistra Leaf
Weave a number of leaves
Tie a leaf in a knot
Cut leaves to form different shapes, such as a scallop shell, irregular shape or a lance
French plait a palm
Weave a palm flat from the base of the leaf
Cut circles in an Aspidistra leaf or similar leaf
Weave some Bear Grass (Xerophyllum tenax) into herringbone plaits
Bend a Phormium or Cordyline Leaf to form an abstract arrangement
Weave a palm to give it a thorn appearance
Cut a leaf to give a different shape
Add lace or beads to a leaf such as an Aspidistra
