Where: Korea
Who started it: South Korea and the United States resisted North Korea and Chinese aggression.
Results: Stalemate. Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) at the 38th Parallel.
Bay of Pigs Incident:
When: 1961
Where: Bay of Pigs, Cuba
Who started it: Different Perspectives: Castro’s Perspective – CIA when they trained Cuban Exiles.US Perspective – when Castro became a harsh Communist dictator.
Results: Cuban exiles killed by Castro’s armed forced

Cuban Missile Crisis:
When: October 1962
Where: Off the coast of Cuba
Who started it: Soviet Union placed missiles in Cuba.
Results: The Soviets removed the missiles in response to the U.S. navel blockade.

Vietnam War:
When: US Marines sent in March 1965. US withdrew by 1973. Saigon, the South’s capital, falls in 1975
Where: Vietnam
Who started it: The U.S. intervened to stop the spread of communism into South Vietnam based upon the Domino Theory
Results: Americans were divided over whether the U.S. should be involved militarily in Vietnam. The conflict ended in a cease-fire agreement in which U.S. troops withdrew. Eventually, the North unified the South as one Vietnam
