The city is the setting for a life

without limits. The urban explorer is

on a quest to discover, reimagine and

defy convention. A determined and

optimistic approach transforms the

everyday into a new experience.

Each moment is an opportunity.

A refreshing perspective sets the

urban explorer apart. Where others see

the same-old, they yearn for the

never-seen-before. With an instinctive

lure to the here and now, the urban

explorer goes to any length to take in

all that the city has to offer.

The exploration endures, spurred on

by the urban landscape.

Explore the city, discover Paris.

RENE LACOSTE

R ENE A ND S IMONE , THE OR IGIN A L S

In 1927, René Lacoste, was at

the forefront of tennis, renowned for

his inimitable playing style.

Meanwhile, Simone de la Chaume won

the British Ladies Amateur, the most

prestigious women’s golf tournament.

But that year was not just a story

of sporting success.

The freedom and opportunity of the

1920s paved the way for René's future

of groundbreaking innovation and

limitless possibilities.

Two champions, united by inquisitive

minds and an optimistic approach

to life. Their time together centred

around the cosmopolitan city of Paris.

When René and Simone weren’t

training or competing, they explored

their city, drawing inspiration from its

unique energy and character.

René and Simone were icons of their

time. At the epicentre of a city which

combined the allure of heritage with

the thrill of the contemporary, just as

it continues to do today.

Page 4: LA CHAUSSURE LACOSTE - LOOKBOOK AW16 (Q3)

René Lacoste was the tennis

player of the 1920s. His place in

the history books was guaranteed.

Yet, his knowledge of the court,

coupled with an exacting and

audacious outlook on life, led to a

revolutionary design vision.

In 1963, Lacoste introduced the 'René'.

The silhouette was simple and

effortlessly refined, paving the way

for future incarnations. The LS.12,

Missouri and Half Court silhouettes

continue the tradition forming an iconic

repertoire which will forever stay true

to René Lacoste’s original principles.

Timeless innovation, sporting origin,

classic style, comfort. These are the

design principles which have formed

the basis for the brand, from René’s

earliest invention until now. Enduring

and assured. This season introduces

the Explorateur. A silhouette that takes

its founding influences from these

principles, combining heritage Lacoste

aesthetics with a contemporary

urban motivation.

T IMELESS INNOVAT IONThe flex pattern sole -

a defining feature of the very

first Lacoste tennis shoe -

is re-imagined alongside a

classic cupsole construction.

SPORT ING OR IG INSThe iconic 1986 Half Court

tennis silhouette lends signature

court-inspired design lines to

the upper.

CLASS IC STYLE The L.12.12 polo shirt’s defining

piqué pattern is an authentic

Lacoste element which is subtly

referenced through the rugged,

textured tread.

COMFORTRené Lacoste’s belief in

using technology to enhance

experience plays out in the

thoughtful padded collar and

moulded insock.

Ease, elegance and sporting spirit

are the values which unite every style

within the Explorateur collection.

Each silhouette acts as a perfected

antidote to city life. Lending unmistakable

heritage, the defining features across

the Explorateur collection include the

distinctive nod to 1980s silhouettes

such as the Half Court and subtle hints

to the outsole construction of the 1963

René silhouette. A signature cupsole

construction makes a contemporary

statement, while being fundamentally

routed in Lacoste’s sporting past.

The Explorateur, with iterations for men,

women and kids, has a classic, premium

feel. Striking a balance between authentic

athletic heritage and contemporary

aesthetics and construction, this premium

leather shoe is the embodiment of

past-modern style.

The Explorateur Mid Sport takes its

inspiration from the quest to find the

perfect product fit for movement

and durability, exacting standards

which was essential to René Lacoste’s

tennis success and the attention-to-

detail of his innovations.

Striving for perfection plays out in a carefully balanced meeting of function and form. Explorateur Sport is crafted using contemporary materials blended with silhouettes informed by the iconic Lacoste archive; the distinguishing contours of the upper reference the profile of the 1986 Half Court.

Explorateur Sport has winter in the city at its core, crafted with considerations of the urban explorer lifestyle as the central influence. A mudguard and reflective heel detailing infuse functional appeal for now, in the same spirit as René Lacoste’s pioneering designs.
