In many Spanish-speaking countries, “La comida” is the big meal of the day, and is eaten around 3 PM. People come home from work or from school to eat with their families and to take a break. Then, many go back to work to finish their day. The foods that we think of as “Mexican” or “Spanish” are usually eaten at this meal.

Dinner, as we think about it, is a small meal—maybe cereal and fruit, an egg, or some other quick food. Breakfast, too, is not a big meal—eggs, or cereal, or toast with coffee or juice.

The water in Mexico can make people who are unaccustomed to it get sick.
