Taking Time to Be Thankful There is a danger, I believe, in identify-ing one day a year as Thanksgiving Day. It’s the danger of implying that thanks is due on this day, but not on others. It’s sort of like the danger when

we designate a Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. Should-n’t children honor their mothers more than once a year? Similarly, shouldn’t we be thankful more often than once a year on the fourth Thursday of November? Giving thanks to God is important every day because it helps us stay connected with God. To put the matter bluntly: Gratitude will improve our life. Instead of moaning about what we don’t have or what isn’t right about our life, we get an honest glimpse of all that is good in our life. Gratitude magnifies our experience of the good things in life, enabling us to enjoy them more thoroughly. Grati-tude also helps us to endure the hard things in life with dignity, sometimes even with humor. Gratitude is like savoring a fine meal, enjoy every bite, rather than racing through a quick bite. It’s about taking time to slow down, to STOP, to LOOK, and to LISTEN to the world around us.

Quote for the Day: “I’ve seen hate and I’ve seen Love.

And Love is more powerful.” Immaculee Illibagiza

Thanksgiving Day Masses Make time this Thursday to join us on Thanksgiving Day.

Mass at 7:00 AM and at 9:00 AM. Join us as we come together as a community of gratitude

STEWARDSHIP –33RD SUNDAY Today’s readings are in stark contrast to the joy of the holiday season that is fast approaching, warning us instead of dark times ahead and our inevitable judgment day. The warnings we read in the Scriptures today should be no cause for alarm. In fact, we can view these words as encouragement — “Keep Calm and Steward On,” no matter what comes our way. One of the blessings of a stewardship way of life is that in challenging times, whether in our homes or workplaces or even our beloved Church itself, we can take great comfort in knowing we have a concrete plan to keep our priorities in right order. And, when we put God irst in all aspects of our lives, we will experience the peace that He gives that surpasses all understanding.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS* VERMILION CATHOLIC*VETERANS DAY MASS

Seniors under the direc-tion of Reba Broussard, rallied together to exe-cute a profound cor-poral work of Mercy - burying the dead.

19 unclaimed brothers and sisters in Vermilion Parish were laid to rest. As VC students stood in the rain paying honor to people they’ve never met, we all felt appreciation for the teenagers we are lucky enough to teach.

Special thanks Major Chris Duhon, 4th Degree KCS, Scouts and all active military, veterans and families who participated Veterans Day.
